It's Senior Day, and the 5-5 Canes hope to send their Seniors out the right way against the 3-6 USF Bulls. Just like last week, we're facing a 3-6 team that just recently snapped 6 game losing streak. Let's hope the similarities end there. After last week's debacle, UM still controls it's destiny in the Coastal division. The only remaining conference game is @ Duke next week. Lets take care of business this week and lock this thing up next week.

Here is your 2012 Senior Class:

Only 11 of the 17 are on scholarship, and only Mike James and Brandon McGee are starters. Davon Johnson has been a solid contributor this year. Ben Jones did OK before his injury. Botts and Wieclaw have had solid careers too. Then there's guys like Vaughn Telemaque and Darius Smith who seemed to fall out of favor with the coaching staff. Their playing time diminished greatly as the season went on. This just reinforces the point that we are a young team that could return 20 of 22 starters next year. And this very team is on the verge of winning it's first Division Crown since we joined the Conference. There isn't another home game until August 31st next year. So get off your *** and go.

4 storylines for UM in this game:

1. Can Duke continue being Duke?
2. Will the passing game have success despite all the injuries?
3. Can the defense get off the field on 3rd down?
4.
Can the return of Perryman and Eddie Johnson make a difference?

Last year USF completely shut down our running game. Miller and James combined for just 63 yards on 25 carries, an average of 2.5 yards per carry. Duke is coming off back-to-back 100 yard games and will be needed to keep up his amazing play this week. We're down so many wideouts that walk-on Garrett Kidd made it onto the depth chart this week. Yikes. Thank god Eddie Johnson and Perryman are back. You'd think we wouldn't have anything to worry about since USF's starting QB and leading rusher are both out with injuries. Last week changed everything. Every team's offense is capable of lighting us up.

Last time they met: November 19, 2011. Miami won 6-3

What people were saying after our glorious victory:

Some early thoughts:

Our Oline is an embarrassment and easily our most underachieving unit. If you recall, Stoutland called this the best oline he was ever going to coach when he left to Bama. These guys are soft physically and mentally. They are gut-wrenchingly bad. Watching USF's Dline look like the '85 Bears was painful.

WTF has happened to Lamar Miller? He is not the same back. My feeling is that he's playing in pain with the same bum shoulder he's had since HS which is the exact liability that's going to cost him in the draft. I'll say it again, missing Storm Johnson is really hurting us. I would like to see Eduardo get more carries.

WTF has happened to TB3? He's just not playing focused ball which, at this point in the season and his career, is enough for me. Demote him, let him sit for a while, and let him regroup. His mistakes are killing us right now.

When was the last time we blocked a FG? Punt? We used to scare teams with spectacular STs play. Every FG was a threat to be blocked. That sort of pressure used to derail kicks before they were actually even kicked. It intensifies an already intense situation. I wish we would focus more on STs. Granted we're better in coverage, but we still have a long way to go when compared to the Soldinger-coached units of years past.

Props to Jacory for firing away today. He made some bone-headed plays, was late on several throws, but the WRs didn't do him any favors. No INTs today was tremendous.

The sooner we cleanse this team of Shannon holdovers, the better.

What they're saying:

Jamie DeVriend said:
2. Life after B.J. Daniels: The era of B.J. Daniels is over for USF and now the program that has relied on #7 for the last four years suddenly has to start fresh with Matt Floyd (or Bobby Eveld). How much workload will Floyd be asked to handle? The Bulls have been mixing in senior Victor Marc as a wildcat quarterback during practices, meaning the team may come out with a different look now that Daniels is out. Floyd is not as mobile as Daniels was, so the team is still looking for a running threat out of the zone read packages that have worked for the Bulls the last two years. How much of the game plan will fall on Floyd's shoulders? Will they let him sling it, or will they rely heavily on the run and ask him to simply manage the game? Guess we find out this Saturday.

Maybe this is the week where we make a ****** quarterback look ******. A man can dream can't he?

Miami Notes:

1. Gunter is settling into a starting role.
2
. Duke Johnson is on pace to be the most prolific kickoff return man in Cane history.
3. Jedd Fisch <3's cute trick plays.

Notes:

1. USF needs a win to keep their bowl hopes alive.

2. Injuries force USF to embrace youth.
3.
Some USF players say they made the right choice in not going to UM.
