Would that be for unvaxxed or vaxxed?
I subtracted the numbers I started with (just after the peak in cases). In Florida, I wound up with a mortality ratio of 2.8% just after the spike in Delta deaths. Now, it is possible that if I had started subtracting just before the spike started (July?) I may have wound up with a number half as much (1.4%). Long story short, Omicron is 10% as deadly as the numbers say Delta was.

Also, I isolated the entire country’s mortality for only 2021 (The Year of the Delta) and that number was 1.44%. 2020 was 1.7%.

Question.

Let’s say hypothetically the majority of the world was vaccinated prior to the first variant of Covid, would the vaccines have stopped transmission or not?

It would have reduced it, slowed it down, but not stopped it. It would have put a dent in the mortality, but not as much as we see Omicron doing right now.

The trials spawned Delta early on, there was no chance to arrest the spread.

I’m guessing that mortality rate will drop below 1% in the next 30 days?

Suggest you add "Reported" or similar language to your statement that we lead the world in cases and deaths. As has been discussed in other threads, a number of countries such and China and India have vastly underreported their data.
I brought it up a while back. You will probably get ignored just the same. Doesn’t care that it taints the rest of the post.

I used to denote it with an asterisk. People still bitched. So I stopped putting an asterisk, and people bitched some more. When numbers are published for those countries I’ll put them in. And it’s not like going from 1st to 3rd in deaths is good when we are creeping up on 1 million dead.
