Three Miami Hurricanes football student-athletes were recognized for excellence in the classroom with their selections to the All-ACC Academic Football Team, the conference office announced Wednesday.

Running back Travis Homer, safety Jaquan Johnson and offensive lineman Hayden Mahoney were all honored by the ACC.

Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.

Homer, who elected to forego his final year of eligibility to enter the NFL Draft, majored in management during his academic career. Mahoney, who made 10 starts on the offensive line in his final year at The U, also majored in management, while Johnson, who was named to the All-ACC Second Team and recently competed in the Reese’s Senior Bowl, majored in human and social development.

The ACC has selected an All-ACC Academic Football Team every year since 1954. The team was chosen from a pool of ACC football student-athletes who were nominated by their schools.

It is somewhat of a sad commentary that there will be no returning all-ACC Academic team members returning to the team next year. One left early for the pros(congrats), the other will also be a pro(congratulations) and the third transferred(he will be missed). Best wishes to all of them

Jaquan Johnson & Travis Homer will be a great ambassadors for The U, tough, smart & played with the heart of a Lion. They're the quintessential Canes.

Will really miss Quan's leadership & playmaking ability on the field, he left a great example for guys like Bandy, Amari, Gurvan & the rest to follow.

Proud of those guys & best of luck to Jaquan & Travis Homer in the NFL, great players that will do great things in the league.

What about Mahoney? You hurt his feelings, he’s over in the corner crying his eyes out! Apologize 😬
