Since it's the off-season, now would be a good time to debut a project I've been working on for a while. Here are some comparisons between Miami skill-position recruits and current NFL players based on skillset and physical gifts. This doesn't mean the recruits will turn out as good as these guys, but it is just a comparison of styles.

Today’s comparisons are for the receivers

Ermon Lane: Julio Jones

Lane and Jones have the rare ability to go up and get those fifty-fifty balls almost effortlessly. They both are good route runners with strong hands. Although Lane and Jones may not be the ones to catch a screen pass and take it down the field for 80, they can get deep.

Lane: 6’3 195
Jones: 6’4 215

Jones Highlights:

Travis Rudolph: Reggie Wayne

Wayne has polished catching skills, as does Rudolph, and he can make difficult catches look easy. They both are very smooth and always in control. Rudolph brings the added threat of punt returning, as he is a threat to score with the ball in his hands.

Rudolph:6’0 189
Wayne: 6’ 198

( Can’t find Wayne’s strictly College or Highschool Highlights so I put this)

Johnnie Dixon: Antonio Brown

Both guys are good route runners with big-play ability, but Dixon may even be more versatile with his ability to line up outside.

Dixon: 5’11 190
Brown: 5’10 175

Braxton Berrios- Wes Welker

This is an easy comparison, but it is the right one IMO. Everything about Berrios's game resembles Welker but with a little more explosiveness. Berrios ran a 4.48 at the same camp where Dixon and Lane ran 4.5+, and his quickness (like Welker's) makes him impossible to cover. Berrios showed at the Miami camp that he can adjust to bad passes and he also has surprising jumping ability, similar to Santana Moss.

Berrios: 5’10 175
Welker:5’9 185

Darrell Langham- Tommy Streeter

Langham has good speed and amazing size that he uses to catch the jump balls and deep balls. Like Streeter, his route running is very good for a big man and he catches the ball away from his body. One area I would really like to see Langham improve is drops; scouts have reported he seems to be able to catch the hard passes but drops the easier ones. If he want to live up to this comparison, he needs to be more consistent.

Langham 6’3 180

Streeter: 6’4 190

Berrios makes most sense to be compared to Steve Smith. He has the vert and explosiveness that Welker has never had. Yes Welker is white and is a dominant slot receiver but Berrios is way more of a physical freak.

I like the comparison of Langham to Hankerson. I dont believe he is as fast or tall as Streeter. Plus alot of the rumblings I heard about Langham is that he has inconsistent hands, makes the hard catch but drops the easy ones. That is very similar to Hankerson, plus there size and speed seem to be more comparable.

Langham looks physically bigger, not taller at this point than Streeter did. Streeter was tall and lanky, and very fast. Langham looks like he uses his body better than Streeter ever did though, even during his breakout season.

This. Berrios is Welker on steroids.

Lane- is more similar to braylon edwards (6'3 207) they are both lean guys who can stretch the field, go up and get it, and have good agility for taller wr. Dixon- i have to say roddy white (6'0 205) both have strong upper bodies and have speed to strecth field. Rudolph- i'm going with victor cruz (6'0 200) both have similar builds and are best with ball in their hands(yac) and have speed to get down field i think rudolph will probably be best in slot but can also play outside see cruz comparison.
