NBA NBA is back

IF making hundreds of millions of dollars did NOT reduce the chances of me or my family potentially being shot or held down by society/police ....then I'd complain too. It's the American way

Isn't that supposed to be one of the perks of being rich?
When is the last time a wealthy athlete was shot by the cops? When was the last time any of them were "held down" by police when they were not breaking a law or resisting arrest?

I’m still tryna figure when lebron spoke out against protesters..because in these articles he never says that
he said Morey should get educated, implying he is wrong, when in fact he was and continues to be right. Red China is a real issue and the fact that they are the source of a massive revenue stream for the NBA does not change the lack of humanity and decency that exists in china

Daniel Morey sent out a tweet that simply said “stand with Hong Kong fight for freedom”..literally that’s it. He didn’t delve deeper into it, didn’t expand on the tweet..all this while the nba is doing business in China..NO **** the tweet got deleted. It’s not just lebron who has business in China. The whole NBA and It’s flagship players do..we all get that..the problem I have is this being used as a deflection on other issues in the homeland. As if we don’t have human rights issues here. Why is this being brought opposing the issues here..Lebron says BLM and justice for breonna Taylor and a **** will bring up China to start a whole new argument lol..I thought it was America first🤷🏾‍♂️

not looking for a fight. I will always support the sentiment of America first. I mentioned Lebron initially because he is such a visible guy and makes his feelings on things political well known- like when he campaigned for Hillary Clinton. But I agree with you, the entire NBA is to blame for letting the dollars that flow from China prevent them from admitting the issues that exist there. And if I'm being fair this can be said about so many industries and individuals.

Here’s the thing tho..Human rights issues exist everywhere..when exactly has America been the model for human rights issues?? We have our own problems to deal with..and historically that’s how US geo political policies have always been..it’s just a convenient argument point for some to deflect from legit issues here that they don’t think is a problem..not saying your apart of that to be clear

"When exactly has America (I believe you mean the United States) been the model for Human rights??"

Are you really that blind? The U.S. Constitution started the process to achieving human rights, by starting to describe such rights, record them, and start the long, torturous, journey in making them a reality. Do people in China have a Bill of Rights? Do they vote in elections? Can the petition for grievance? Countries around the world now have constitutions defining liberty and rights because of the U.S. constitution, allowing for the rule of law if the country adopts the US framework. Sure China has a constitution, but the Communist Party uses it for toilet paper.

But hey, deeds speak louder than words...The US military fought the scourge of imprisoning facism in WWII. From gunners on the USS West Virginia at Pearl Harbor, to the convoy escorts battling submarines in the Atlantic. From 332 FG Mustangs in the air dueling with Messerschmitts to Marines fighting for every inch throughout Pacific Islands...From D-Day and eventual liberation of concentration camps to Iwo Jima, the flag that is disrespected by kneeling was there, representing the Americans delivering real human rights:

It didn't stop there. You wouldn't have a Samsung Smart TV or Hyundai car if the US didn't assure South Korean independence...They would be living in the communist Hermit Kingdom, starving. In Vietnam, the same goal was attempted, but not achieved, though by no fault of those fighting and dying for what was hoped would be a free country.

The world economy would have been decimated by a dictator controlling over half of the known oil reserves at the time, and the US responded in a united manner to stop tyranny and economic blackmail:

From deposing a brutal dictatorship in Hait to stopping ethnic cleansing in the Balkans, our country has fought for human rights more than anyone else, all under the star spangled banner.

So there is your answer. Nowhere near perfect, but I challenge you to find a country that has done more for humanity than this one.

Okay..let me rephrase, when has America truly exemplified the words in the constitution for all Americans?

slavery, Jim Crow, woman’s rights, Japanese American put in intermittent camps, the red scare, Islamic phobia, civil rights, mass incarceration...some of these problems still persist today.
When has it been America’s job to police the world? When have we ever been worried about rogue, dictatorship type governments?? Autocratic systems..when has that concerned us from a moral standpoint?..Why is China brought up when lebron talks on issues that effect communities he comes from??

So an athlete has to be shot in order to be empathetic to victims of murder by tax funded, agents of the State? Going by your logic we shouldn't have gotten involved in WW2 since we weren't getting tossed in gas ovens in Auschwitz.

And to answer your second question, see James Blake, Sterling Brown, Jonathan Ferrell, & Demetrius DuBose.

crying about this?

Not to start a flame war, but everyone has a right to protest. But, there is a proper time and place. If for example, an NBA player from Hong Kong were to chant “***** Chinese invaders” while LeBron was shooting free throws, the NBA, and many fans would lose their minds. He would get suspended and vilified. So, the message and time are very off putting. Now if that same player went to a pro-HK march on the UN, no one should get upset.

Also, there are plenty of people who are against uncalled for shootings and brutality happening to ANYONE in society.......Not just to themselves

NBA players are not exempt from brutality

You realize that getting to a place of true equality is a long journey that very few countries outside of the United States have tried. Have you been to a Monarchy where "criminals" are beheaded? I have. Been to a Monarchy where you met the crown prince, who was later part of an un-democratic power struggle? I have. From dictatorships were people live in hovels to civil wars, I have seen the rest of the world up close and it is pretty ugly. We have been engaged in trying to change these governments to one more democratic, however, building democratic institutions take time and there are entrenched factions who will try to keep power, at all cost, over a populace that has little democratic tradition. I have the scars from being fired upon by these folks in Iraq, so we have went way beyond "being worried." You ask when Autocratic Systems have been a concern, yet you condone the NBA's silence on China's autocratic system killing, imprisoning, and putting into slavery millions. It is easy to criticize what causes you no pain. Ali lost his title and almost his freedom for his stand; LeBron losses nothing by critcising his home country and staying silent on China.

You bring up things that have been abolished, legislated out of existence, ended after hostilities, or have been won by a country trying to make itself better. You acknowledge this fact and state more problems persist today, yet seem to imply that these problems can't be solved like the others you listed, by a US Constitutional system that solved the earlier difficulties. If problems such as slavery and voting rights can be solved, then for profit incarceration and unlawful police tactics can be solved also.

Lebron and the rest of the NBA players don't take to heart the axiom, you attract more with honey than vinegar. Kneeling for the US flag and anthem is to meet the political aims of a Black Lives Matter movement that traces its roots to the 1960s movement that achieved so much, but was sidetracked by inpatient leaders such as Stokley Carmichael being co-opted by radical leftists; organizations funded by the Soviets and others. After Dr. King was assassinated, you had the first riots in D.C. that destroyed black owned business and started problems we deal with today, such as food deserts in black communities (insurance to run a business is hard to obtain after a riot).

Virtue signalling and riots in your own community do not help. When will the NBA players go to the school board meetings in disadvanged communities and demand that accountability in education be put in place? No more blaming the parents for failing schools, then flipping the coin and giving teachers unions get another raise...While they still fail their minority students. Where are NBA players going along with the police to find out the challenges police face and offer guidance to young cops on how to de-escalate? Where is the mass protests outside the DEA and the commercial drug makers demanding action to stop the spread of drugs in black communities.

The past can't be changed and Lord knows we have had too many acts of violence being used to settle old scores throughout the globe. But if the IRA and the British can make peace, if the Israelis don't bomb the Germans, and if the Serbs, Croats, and Bozniaks can co-exist, then we can get past history and strive for a more harmonious future.
