The copa America takes guest teams every year since 93 I think. Usually it’s Mexico who played in this tournament for many years but has a scheduling conflict with the gold cup so they had to decline. Same with the US. Europe had euro qualifying lately so that ruled them out. Africa has its own tournament this summer too. That left the asian teams. Qatar and Japan finished 1-2 in the asian tournament and japan hosts the Olympics next year while qatar hosts the next World Cup in 2022. That’s why they were invited. They will take the ******* from those South American teams most likely

The soccer conference has an odd number of teams so they add a couple of outsiders to balance the tournament

Uruguay with Suarez is a problem.

I always cheer for Uruguay. Their ball club always has solid players and play well together despite them being such a small country.

Colombia is so overrated. It’s the same **** with them every tourney.
