Miami picked up the top junior college tight end in the country last week in Beau Sandland, but the ‘Canes aren’t done trying to add offensive weapons from the JUCO ranks.

2013 Pierce C.C. WR Jaelen Strong (6’4”, 205) had an incredible season this year, as he racked up 67 catches for 1263 yards and 15 touchdowns. Strong recapped the team’s season and talked about his performance as well.

“The season went great, we went nine and two. I had one of my best years so it was a great season.”

Strong speaks with Miami Tight Ends coach Brennan Carroll and had high remarks about him.

“He is a definitely a nice guy. You can joke around with him and he is a cool guy. He has done a great job of recruiting me. He has been talking to me since before the season.”

Strong does have interest in Miami and happened to be a fan growing up.

“Miami has been a school that I have loved since I was young. I really didn’t expect to be talking to Miami right now. I also think they have a great future ahead of them.”

He wants to take a visit to Miami before he makes his decision.

“I do have an interest in taking a visit to Miami, I definitely want to take an official to Miami.”

While the JUCO receiver does currently live in California, he has no issue with the thought of playing in Miami.

“Distance won’t play a factor. I’m from Philadelphia and I went to a college out in California so it doesn’t matter.”

The JUCO receiver had the opportunity to play alongside Miami signee Beau Sandland.

“It was a one-of-a-kind experience. I probably will have another chance to play with him and maybe even in the NFL, but I know he is going to do great things at Miami.”

Strong wants to make his decision on signing day and knows what he wants when he picks a school.

“I just want somewhere where they can treat me like family. I need to know what type of offense they run whether it be pro or spread. Somewhere where I can play and I have to be comfortable with the coaching staff.”

The talented wide-out is also in contact with Texas Tech, Arizona State, Washington, South Carolina and Tennessee.

So if I am picking offenses from those schools who do you pick? Don't follow other teams but looks like a no brainer

Which thread was that discussing whether or not we have a number 1 receiver?

I think the staff thinks this guy could be our number 1 receiver next season.

If he has a legit offer something doesn't make sense.

JUCO WR, we only lost DJ and not recruiting really any 2013 WR (besides Coley). Someone might be leaving the school.

Or Coach Golden doesn't want to do a Shannon and skip taking kids which end with us having gaps in the depth chart.

Not necessarily. He would bring something to the table that we don't have, which is a big receiver (deep-threat too) with speed. Carter or Jones could develop into that, but they are still raw and need more work.

Here are players that you find during these cycles and take regardless of anything else. Maybe he is one of those kids in the staff's eyes...Coley or no Coley.

Our best or 2nd best big receiver is currently suspended, so... there's that. His shakiness might be affecting recruiting a tinge.

I don't know. Might be insurance for Malcolm and Lockhart.

Could be the fact that the staff feels like this kid is a monster, and has decided it's better for him to play college football in Coral Gables than elsewhere.

Kid is a beast man. We ain't got nobody like em

Here's my thing, we haven't won 10 games in **** near a decade, and we think we're in position to turn down talent like this, when character questions aren't a concern? I haven't seen anything from any receiver on our team that demands that he have a spot starting next year. We don't have no Robert Woods or Tavon Austin that is a proven dominant receiver. Guys need to understand that this is "THE U". Bring it or get your job tooken. Coley and Strong would put a lot of pressure on the entire receiver core and you most definitely wouldn't have to worry about guys not working hard, because our guys can see the tape, and Coley and Strong's tape don't lie.

Usually you would recruit other kids around the same age so you will not be left at the alter. My point is it seems we're taking Cooley (2013 SR in HS) or Strong (2013 JUCO) aren't exactly substitutes for each other.

I think it has to do with the bold part, maybe someone is transferring or someone is too hurt.

I just am curious because if WR was a real need you wouldn't recruit 1 JUCO and 1-2 SR in HS. This kid does look like a talent though.
