WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: Another one of the outstanding South Florida athletes who has flown way beneath anyone's radar screen, but that changed this spring.

Watching him for the first time last summer, this is a talented football player who can play anywhere on the field, which makes him extremely versatile and athletic.

As a receiver, where many colleges have locked in, he has very good hands, improving route running abilities and does have the speed to separate.

Having watched him play on the defensive side of the ball as a safety, and on special teams, this is truly an athlete that you need on any team. He played competitive 7-on-7 this spring, which has provided and edge from a competition standpoint.

He had a really good sleeper year...kind of just jumped on the radar. Nice returner prospect.

Could also be building for the future. I've noticed this with a couple of moves Golden's made, i.e. reconnecting with Miramar.

The class of 2014 sophomores and 2015 freshmen are going to be special with Durante’s younger brother Jovon — a 5-10, 165-pound defensive back/receiver — and sophomore running back Xavier Francis.

The younger Durante will start for the Lightning and is considered to be one of the state’s best class of 2015 players. His quickness and athleticism have put him in a tremendous position to succeed over the next four seasons.

He definitely looks faster than 4.7 to me.

Kid looked pretty good to me, solid, athletic, good speed, good ball skills. I think he could make a nice DB at the next level.

Johnnie Durante with a highlight reel blasting "push it." Scarface name, scarface song. He should be at Miami, lol.

Don't know if he runs a 4.7 or not, but not too many people are running him down.

Catches the ball well and is physical too. Intriguing.

Looks like he'd make a good safety or wide receiver. Not blazing fast but fast enough.

Hard to see how he doesn't have a single offer though. You'd think he at least would have one from FIU, FAU, UCF.

He has a visit with Vanderbilt in January.
