Official Jackson Carver visiting next week (Commits, 6.14!)

This is whitest thing I’ve ever read here
I’ll add a little to that.

Although it’s a short hockey clip, right off the bat his skating ability for a player of that size is a rare thing to see. You do see some choppy steps in one of his take downs which would get him 2 minutes in the box at the NHL level.

It looks like he struggles reading when to attack the blue line and plays passively. But he knows how to drive through his skates to deliver punishing hits. Raw athleticism and power with big strides makes him an intriguing prospect. I could see him as a 6th defenseman PK specialist at the next level.

Granted he's at a relatively small, elite high school, but impressive to uncover a prospect who's a three-sport athlete. Could arguably play any one of the three at the next level. Nice prospect to work with and develop.

That's beyond being a decent hockey player, bodes well for what I was suggesting about his athleticism.
There are a lot of guys that played in the USHL that made the league and it is essentially a D1 feeder program as you stated.
Looks like I goofed, he didn't get drafted by the USHL. But the comp he's playing against in the clip I posted is more than legit. Kids from all over the country flock there like IMG. Shattuck has had guys like Crosby, Toews, and Parise play for them. That's the caliber of prospects the team he's playing against attracts.

i just looked at these lax highlights.

they had a kid that is 6-6 and 220 lbs playing all of zone and mtm, as well as a box-1 defense, against a crease attack and a short stick middie.

that's .... pretty impressive.

this kid is an all american caliber D1 defenseman. full stop.
I disagree. A crease attack (anterior, not posterior) always calls for a long stick middie.

Anyone questioning this guy as a take needs to analyze the situation.
Do you know how hard it is to be a legit 3 sport D1 athlete with commitable offers in all 3?!!

Do you know how difficult it is to be a granted a full ride in one sport not to mention 3?

The time, the effort, the commitment, is literally way more impressive than just the plain athletic ability. The fact that he plays 4 sport and has commitable Ivey League offers a is impressive enough.

At the very least you want this type of dude in your locker room just as an example to be followed.

He’s either an athletic savant or extremely focused. Either way he’s a take imo and exactly the type of make up that Mario has already said he’s looking for.

You are correct, BUT .... not if you are running an inverted set on your offense. Which is what it looked like to me in that one clip, which is why i identified it as such. (nice pickup though by you)

Totally agree, have played hockey since I was 3. Shawttuck is a power house, always has been. Kid has some serious athleticism to excel in 3 sports.

I'm a black guy and I understood everything he said. Perhaps that's more of a reflection of me. 🤔

actually, it's not surprising .... if you think about what a lot of basketball plays would look like if there were 6 guys on each side, instead of 5, then you have a good rudimentary understanding what a "half field" offense in lacrosse looks like.

also, the shuffle technique on defense is very similar to what you would teach and expect to see footwork wise on a basketball court.

that's the reason i've said, whatever football coach cracks the code on lacrosse players, found himself an interesting edge. it's also the reason that kids who grow up playing a lot of organized hoops can make a transition to lax, even though the sport may seem foreign to them and some of the skills required don't originate from other sports.
