Canes unluckiest 2019 - 2020 is Coastal or ****

So if we change head coaches (like we always do) Miami will ultimately be better? Cause obviously changing head coaches is the recipe to success....

Manny is not main reason we loss to FIU in his first year of being a head coach😑
While the point you're trying to make is valid, the only response you're going to get is "he lost to FIU". Best to just let it play out and we'll see how everyone feels after the 2020 season.

Watching the Florida game - other than the putrid pass blocking and QB’s holding the ball too long, we really should have won the game. Missed or not attempted field goals, 2 terrible PI calls on Romeo and Blades, long run by Harris called back.

UNC we gave them a huge lead at the beginning, then really dominated most of the game. Again missed field goals and 4th and 17...SMH

VT - we kept turning it over and then not covering the TE. Made a huge comeback and missed the Extra point which deflated the D.

GT - that was a crazy series of events. Gave up TD in end zone, long TD on fake punt, missed FG’s and BS call on the Brevin Jordan play in OT.

We had bad luck - but caused a lot of our own problems with poor execution, bad calls, sloppy tackling etc.

We need to perform this year - no excuses.

Disagree on Romeo. Thought he played solid. IDK how you see striker improving. Frierson freelances too much and does not like to tackle. Smith is a year away from being a major contributor.

Players have named Keontra Smith as a breakout guy this year. I think he will end up getting more PT than Frierson once conference play starts.

Miami Hurricanes football is an under preforming team and I will no longer allow my expectations to be anything but under achieving. The last two years were back breakers for my hopes. We have under achieved since 2003 in every season but 1. I can't allow myself to be fooled into thinking this year will be any different.

The 2019 squad is a 10 game winner with just a good kicker. 10 wins with all we know: Manny corching, Enos/Offense being historically terrible, brutal QB play, bad discipline, suspensions and so on.

Watched the condensed version of all 2019 games. Here is some thoughts:

CB - 2019 Ivey (bad)/Bandy (regressed perhaps injured) Vs 2020 Ivey (finally shows his talent), Blades solid and Williams/Couch are what they are telling us they are. This is the group with the biggest question mark. CB 2020 ???

DE - 2019 Neo (took a sabbatical), Patchan played a lot over #15 and Hill was not the player we thought we were getting VS 2020 we make a big jump ..no details needed. DE 2020>>>2019

DT - 2019 showed flashes, OK vs 2020 Nesta makes that jump, Miller takes over and NY kids surprise. DT 2020>2019

Striker 2019 Romeo regressed, was bad at times vs 2020 whoever plays ( Keontra, Frierson) is an instant upgrade. Striker 2020>2019

Safety 2019 Solid play vs 2020 we get Bubba (stud) the whole season and #26 put it together and ball out. Safety 2020>2019

LB 2019 Shaq dominates the last few games, Ragone plays, inconsistent play season long vs Zach returns, Brooks explodes, more depth 2020 slightly > 2019

OL- 2019 NO comments vs 2020 Jarrid Williams, Scaife at Guard, improved Clark, Justice, new offensive system
2020 >>>>2019

RB - 2019 DJ was great and will be missed, Harris was solid > Harris looks the part, Don/Rooster as talented as anybody RB 2020 = 2019

WR 2019 Osborn solid, Harley/Wiggins showed flashes, Thomas suspended, lost vs Pope talent finally shows , Payton becomes the man, Freshman surprises,Harley/Wiggins improve, Likens

WR 2020 (spread alone, plus QB) >> WR 2019

TE - 2019 Brevin great until injured, saw Mallory potential VS 2020 healthy Brevin balls out to 1st round pick, improved Mallory TE 2020 > 2019

Kicker 2019 no comments vs Borregales Kicker 2020 >>>>>>>>2019

If Lashlee is what we think he is and King is King the 2020 team wins 11 games and play Clemson for the ACC. Just remember Manny/Enos win 10 games with a good kicker.

thoughts?

OL remains the biggest question mark. It will have the biggest impact on wins and losses over the course of the season. Saying 2020 will be better than 2019 is not saying much. It needs to be markedly better. It's great we're changing the system, but until we see it on the field, who knows.

Of course, all this may change by mid-season. Depending how position groups develop, depending where injuries fall, we may have very different questions in mid to late October.

Kickers didn't keep us from 10 wins. Manny playing musical chairs with them was as big an issue as our kickers yips. I believe if Baxa attempts all three kicks against GT, he makes one, at least.

Face it, no game a kicker cost us should have even been freaking close.

Disagree on Striker, LB & RB. We're sacrificing a ton of experience & ALL of our leadership for a boost in athleticism/speed. At best, I'm hoping we can mimic their production.. We won't replace their presence. Next man up! Agree with the rest

Him making one if three is pure speculation. That kid was mentally done.

Not to mention, you imagine if Manny leaves Baxa in and he misses all three? Oh boy would he get crucified lol.

Manny had no choice but to play musical chairs with the kickers. Unless the kickers name is Vinatieri, no coach is sticking through a Baxa like slump.

Manny playing mind games with kickers is dumb. They aren't like a corner that gets beat then gets to go right back at it. When a kicker misses, it could be a week before they try again. Baxa CAN kick, as we saw his freshman year. Manny's job is to help him get his head straight, not play mind games. Remember, this is the same Manny that bent over backwards for Jeff Thomas. The same Manny that gave out a participation trophy to a QB that sacked himself several times against UF. Tell me, why can't Manny be tough with anyone other than a **** kicker?

I get it, Baxa was struggling. He was also more talented than the guy that missed two FGs against GT.

Again, if Manny was even half decent, none of those close games would have been close. That would have allowed Baxa, or any other kicker, to kick out of a slump. The fact Manny tried to scapegoat kickers because he flat out sucked tells me all I need to know about the lispy midget.

Not sure why you think benching Baxa was "playing games".

The kid was scrambled eggs in the brain after the misses he had after 2 games. Manny gave him plenty of opportunity to kick himself out of a slump.

Once a specialist is done upstairs, not much you can do (Feagles another example).

Nah, Baxa was broken and had become a liability. Every time they trotted him out there it was an adventure and he had already cost us the UF and UNC game before they even gave anybody else a shot. It's not like he had one bad game or he was only missing long kicks, he couldn't hit anything.

I could agree with this had the lispy midget not put him in for one kick against GT. Manny freaked out after the replacement missed one. Then it was a circus.

LB’s will be a pleasant surprise this year. Idk if they’ll be better but they’ll be more wow moments from that position (in a good way) . I would almost guarantee that.

Is Butch Davis the reason then?
