Trust me I'm not getting ahead of myself at all here. Just an open question to everyone who reads this from the longtime Miami basketball fan to the newer ones.

How would a national championship make you feel in basketball compared to football? I know football is the big sport but the basketball national title IMO is the toughest to win. Also, would your gratification level be the same if Miami hadnt endured the last 3 years of scrutiny and scandal with black clouds looming?

For me... It would be the ultimate **** you. It would say **** you to every single hater in the ncaa and the media. It will say, **** you, we have 5 titles in football, 4 in baseball, and 1 in basketball. Won a championship in all 3 in the past 15 years. **** you, ncaa. You try to stick it to us but look. We are on every TV show, every broadcast, every radio show, and we are throwing lobs and throwing up the U wherever we are at. We beat your best. **** Tobacco Road. **** duke. **** North Carolina. **** NCST. **** Frank Haith. **** Nevin Shapiro. **** everyone.

It would be just as gratifying for me, as it would to win in any sport.

The U.

I witnessed 4 of our 5 football national titles in person, and I'll tell you, winning one in basketball will mean more to me.

It would be amazing! I have a personal connection to the basketball program, having run the student section my senior year, which makes it mean even more to me. I'm on cloud nine with an ACC Title... what's higher than that? lol

Football = basketball in terms of how happy I would be. Everyone saying football is better is either only a fan of our football team or just doesn't like basketball.

The U is a family no matter what sport it is, if one sport is winning we all are winning.....We support each other no matter what......#UFAM

What Duke said. I would be as happy with a basketball championship as I would with a football championship, especially considering how far this program has come.

This would be just as special if not more special. How many times in your life do you root for a team that at the start of the season you think has no chance of winning a national championship and then ends up winning 6 games in a row to do it? That's an incredible feeling and I hope we get that opportunity. I said at the start of this year on this board that this would be the best basketball team we ever had. I thought we had a slim chance if everything fell our way to go to a final four. I never thought we would win ACC regular or tourney and never in a million years thought we would win it all. This team has a chance. They are an 8-1 favorite to win it all. That is nuts. Even if we lose in the first round there are emotions I have experienced from this team that I never have for any other team before.

Not sure they have to be mutually exclusive. Anytime the program wins anything I am happy. That being said I would get more satisfaction from a football title, mainly bc I happen to like football better. I am beyond excited for this tournament though. I haven't filled out a bracket in probably ten years, but I got one going this year.

A Bball ship would be a 1983 worthy thrill. The first football ship in 83 has never been surpassed because of the shock that the team was able to pull off an unexpected miracle. A Bball ship would be similar.

I'm with you on this, a b-ball title would end just an unfathomable ride. Especially right now, with the cloud that has hung over the school with all the NCAA **** the past few years. This would just be a big middle finger to the NCAA!

I'm with dandy and Duke on this. A NC in anything by Miami is special. I originally thought the move to the ACC was batsh!t crazy for basketball. I never in **** thought we could compete with the likes of the Elite ACC teams. Well, guess what, one **** good coach/staff, and some quality players who can actually play this game a lil bit, and we're not only competing with them, we kicked the cr@p out of them. If this roundball team wins a ship, it's every bit as remarkable as the '83 FB ship, which remains the single greatest sporting event that I ever witnessed/attended. Go Canes! Laranga has made a believer out of me.

First, to see Emmert hand the trophy to Donna Shalala and Jim Larranaga would be GOLD! That alone is worth it to me. A big **** YOU to all the doubters.

We would also join Ohio State, Stanford and Cal as the only schools to win a national title in Baseball, Basketball and Football.

This. Especially with all the chest thumping going back and forth until we find out how this is going to end.
