2014 CB Has High Expectations This Year

2014 Booker T. Washington CB Nigel Patten is a key part of the
powerful Booker T. defense that has high expectations this year.

“We are mainly focusing on the shutout; we’re looking to have a
shutout every game, but as you can see the first game we let Carol
City score thirteen points, but we are looking to have at least eight
shutout’s.”

Patten spoke about how the team is preparing for the upcoming matchup
against the highly ranked Miami Central Rockets.

“Watching film from last year, watching film from this year, learning
what their tendencies are and especially working on special teams.”

the 2014 corner does admit that Booker T, does have some other big
games as well.

“We play Cedar Hill (Tx.) in Texas next week, then after that we play
Orlando Jones who has Levonte Whitfield, who is really fast.”

The athletic prospect says the team is not only aiming for the state
championship but a title higher than that.

“This year our goal is to win states and the national championship, go
undefeated so we can be the best team in Dade County, south Florida
and the nation.”

While Patten is focused on his team, he still keeps a track on the
recruiting process despite only being a junior.

“My recruitment is going well, I only have one offer and that is from
FSU, but I am receiving mail from UCF, Nebraska, California, West
Virginia, Cincinnati, LSU, Florida and Miami.”

Patten spoke about why he likes the Canes.

“I like Miami, it was one of my favorite programs growing up, a lot of
homegrown talent there, a lot of history behind that school and they
have a nice educational background.”

The Booker T prospect says he speaks with Coach Barrow most of the
time and had high remarks about him.

“He is a great coach, he keeps it real with me with my position and
things he see’s in me and DB’s I compare to. and that I can be one of
the top DB’s in my school and whatever college I go to.”

Patten doesn’t have any plans for visits at the moment, but does know
what he would like to see in a school.

“If it fits me, if it plays smart DBs like, I’m not playing somewhere
that recruits 6’3 DBs and I’m the only 5’8 one there.”

While Patten is already an elite corner who says his best attribute is
his speed, he does admit he wants to work on some things

“I want to work on moving my feet at the line in man coverage and to
not be impatient on Cover 2.”

Does FSU just offer every kid down here? Seems like almost every kid claims an offer from them. Then when they commit FSU doesn't take them or even worse take them and then say, he found someone better later down the line LOL How do they pull this crap and still be allowed at these schools? If Miami did that we would never hear the end of it.

I've wondered the same thing and I'm convinced they do. Look at Mackenro Alexander for example... they give out uncommittable offers just so kids feel like they're gettin love from FSU. I would hope kids catch on eventually.

If they want to get their foot in the door with the local SFL recruits, that's the strategy they need to employ. Might bite them in the *** at times, but any edge they can get would be smart of them to take advantage of.
