    Athlon's top 10 national champs

That was in 2006. In 2008 they lost to Oregon State early. They murderered everybody else. They really deserved a title game bid.

What's there really to appreciate about Torretta? He was a mediocre at best QB, and his Heisman was embarrassing. Anyway, I think 1991 Miami would have beaten 1991 Washington about 2 times out of 3. All 3 games would be low scoring snoozers.

USC would have beaten UF that year. USC was the best team in the country, and it was difficult to understand why they weren't selected for the title game, since their loss was early in the year. (Which was supposed to be a good thing under the old BCS format.)

Putting 2013 FSU above the 2005 Texas team? WTF? I could definitely see putting FSU ahead of the 2008 Florida team. I never understand why that team is rated so highly by everybody. They lost to a 4 loss Ole Miss team, and their championship victory over OU, which was played with a virtual home...

I think that people are largely ****ed because he picked a team that shared the NC with the Canes, when most Canes fans feel we should have been the solo champs in 1991. It does seem trollish, although not sure it’s worth banning him over.

What if Ed Reed got injured? Then would Yale win?

    Athlon's top 10 national champs

Wow. I thought Yale’s 10-0 win over Princeton was a bit of a blemish, until I realized that Princeton was 11-0 and had outscored opponents 589-0 coming into that game. The 1888 Princeton team is probably the second best team of all time. Do you think the 2001 Canes are the 3rd best team of...

What about 1897 Penn? The last team for over 120 years to go 15-0.

    Athlon's top 10 national champs

LSU played Alabama when Tua was hurt and probably shouldn’t have been playing. And they won by 5 points. If Tua had been healthy, Bama wins. Nobody will be talking about 2019 LSU as an all time great team in 10 years. With the new playoff system, teams will play more top teams before...

    Athlon's top 10 national champs

Those Army teams should definitely be on the list. People have forgotten about those teams though. That Army team was like if 2001 Miami played like they did vs Syracuse and Washington, every week of the season.

1991 Washington as the GOAT team? Seriously?

    Athlon's top 10 national champs

Does everybody? This is the first list I’ve seen that puts that FSU team so high. I think most people know they played a bad schedule.

    Athlon's top 10 national champs

LSU didn’t even finish #1 in either FPI or SP+ this year. (Ohio State did) I honestly think OSU probably would have beaten LSU if OSU hadn’t been cheated by the refs against Clemson. LSU really wasn’t that great of a team. People are just saying that because they say that about every year’s...

    Athlon's top 10 national champs

2013 FSU played a terrible schedule. Against Auburn, which is one of the 2 worst teams to make a title game (the other being 2001 Nebraska), they struggled. The 51-14 road win over Clemson was the only game that really qualifies as a fantastic performance by the 2013 Noles. Since they were...
