Haha sad but true. There's a reason Mario has been criticized as a gameday coach. He does a LOT of things really, really well. But he makes decisions like this from time to time, that are frankly incorrect. It's a -EV play. It's not the right call, period. And it's a completely black and...

Well, anytime you're on the road facing a really good defense, and you've scored 3 points in over 40 minutes of ball, and you're on the 4 yard line with a chance to make a 2 score game a 2 score game, you really gotta do it.

Bingo. So you ******* go for it on 4th and Goal from the god**** 4 yard line. It's 17-3 with the 3rd quarter winding down. You need 7's, not 3's.

They do not. I mentioned this as well. They just look at down, distance, score, field position, etc. If you factor in that A&M's offense was as useless as **** on a bull all night, it's even more of a "go for it". You think they're going 96 yards on you?

Analytics said go for it, and it was pretty strong. Under no circumstances was it a coinflip decision. I've posted this in a few threads.

Not really true. He called runs on 56.3% of his first downs against App State, that number was 75% against us. He threw 10.5% of his passes beyond 20 air yards against App State (still terrible), that number was ZERO against us. He was definitely more conservative against us.

Not a single screen. I don't think a single lineman moved outside the tackle box the entire night.

The backs were not the problem. 21 and 4 ran hard and both played well. Thad wasn't making a difference in this game. Although I will say, running Rooster twice from inside the 10 is not the right way to do things.

Exactly. I said the same thing earlier in the thread. I'm not ready to throw dirt on graves just yet, but the drop-off from a practice squad player, a kid who didn't even make a practice squad, and an undersized slot receiver to what we have now is absolutely jarring. These kids shouldn't...

Too much to ask to run a simple screen? To a back or a TE? Something easy in the passing game to get some positive yards? I think we ran 2 RPO/bubbles to slot receivers when we had trips to a side. One Ladson forgot to block and the other went for 25 yards to George. Other than that, was...

Yup. Corner on the boundary has his back turned. He likely has to make one guy miss and this is a TD. Absolute absolute worst, it's first and 10 from the 15 yard line. He drops this, we miss a FG on the next play, and the place is going ballistic. Even though we held them to a 3 and out...

It was the wrong decision, period. From an analytics standpoint, the numbers say go for it, and it's a pretty strong "GO". Also, the models do not take into account how the rest of the game has gone. Meaning, they just know you're down 11, it's 4th and Goal from the 4 with 4 minutes left...

I didn't think anyone was uninspired. The OL played the best game we've played against an SEC-type team in 10+ years. Just fantastic overall. The backs were excellent, except for the Parrish drop (which was an absolute killer, by the way). TVD isn't as good as people here thought he was for...

The offensive coaching staff, including Mario. 1st and Goal at the 10, late 3rd quarter, down 17-3. Run to Knighton (your weakest back between the tackles, in an area of the field that is condensed and you need power over speed)....2 yards. Bleed the play clock down, designed QB sweep with...
