If you like a good imperial/milk stout (and the weather down here recently has been perfect for it) and want a solid craft option, I recommend Foreign Objects's God **** the Sun. Also, you can't go wrong Sam Smith's Imperial Stout. It's on my short list of beers when people ask that evil...

I hear you. I know a lot of people hate Veza Sur because it is admittedly a more insidious InBev gimmick (instead of buying up another craft micro-brewery, InBev started opening up places like Veza Sur from scratch through subsidiaries and single-purpose business entities in an effort to hide...

That's the one. There's actually a pretty solid tapas restaurant and bakery back there, too.

A bit further east, El Carajo is another sneaky spot for a randomly solid beer (and wine) selection. It's blown up in the last 15 years or so, but it's still a somewhat undercover down on 17th and just off US-1.

It is true the majority of the Wynwood Breweries have been sold to macro brews in an ironic twist, though some of them still seem to have a bit of autonomy. It was particularly sad to see WBC get bought by CBA (which is just a sub of InBev) a couple of years ago. But as long as the beer remains...

****, this post has me revisiting some history and taking a long view. Haven't been there in about a year (******* covid), but Laser Wolf is definitely a Fort Lauderdale craft beer original and mainstay. That whole landscape looks totally different today than it did 8-10 years ago. In Dade, I...

Nah, my issue was solely that mid-December weather. Five days, zero sunlight... snowed about 20% of the time, and even when it wasn't snowing it was overcast so bad it looked like twilight most of the day. But midtown and corktown were pretty cool and walkable (when it wasn't snowing). Apart...

Motor City is great. I was stuck in Detroit last winter for about 5 days for work. Highlight of the trip was MCB.

Yeah, the guys at Craft Brew Cartel are very friendly, but they very rarely have decent supply. Good to talk to about beers and homebrew, but little inventory. In my experience, Urban Brewers usually have more supplies available and they work with you when they don't. Recently wanted to teach...

Type of hops can make a big difference there, too. The newer hops tend more towards fruit characteristics. I like the citra/mosaic/el dorado combo for that profile.

Urban Brewers is pretty decent in Miami. Good dudes. That's about it, though.

Keezer > Kegerator, IMO. Some very solid plans available online for a 2 to 4 tap system using multiple pony kegs and with extra storage space for rotating homebrews.

Check out Beat Culture if you are in Miami or happen to see them on a shelf. Local Miami brewers, great beer, and good people working over there.
