Well, it's a thread about old school rap. Start a new one for the more modern sh-t. This thread is nostalgia road for us old heads.

Agree. Making tracks in the studio and battle rapping are about as similar as driving a race car and demolition derby.

I think Too Short is who introduced him to the world. I didn't listen to much of him outside of that one song at all though. Too Short on the other hand? We rocked that dude! "I'm a Player" had one of the best base lines of all time.

Alicia Keys is a true musician. Her performance on that first live concert thing when lockdowns began was absolutely phenomenal. That girl is mad talented! Supposed to be going to see her in July with the Mrs.

Agree with your point re NWA in terms of their discography. ****, IMO, E's Easy Does It album was better than anything NWA did other than N4L. Surprised no one has mentioned Easy Does It on this thread. That album was fire at the time! Funny story on NWA's N4L album... I asked for that for...

Agree a lot of rappers use ghostwriters, but you eliminate yourself from GOAT discussion if you don't write all of your own sh-t, IMO.

My favorite single verse from BIG though? That'd be this (at 3:34): Or this (1:16): That one blows me away because of how he adapts his style to sound like Bone on the track. Never sounded like that again anywhere else. That is true rap mastery!

All time great track; in fact, all time great album! It's incredible just how good Biggie's first product was. I still feel Warning is his best all around work, even though it was one of his first songs. Just phenomenal! That's another album you can play start to finish. Here is a random...

Always thought that above is Redman at his absolute best. Its insane how he changes his flow to mimic Busta Rhymes style. I'm always blown away when an artist is talented enough to do that (Biggie with Bone comes to mind). Red destroyed that!! That beat is so Busta too.

Agree. Meth was a GOAT of the era. His lyrical ability was top notch, but it was that molasses voice and delivery that set him apart. There was only one Method Man, that's for sure!
