Warren Sapp's Mt Rushmore of U players

I included JB on my top 4 so not disagreeing, but the 4th spot was harder than the first 3 for me. I couldn't avoid Reed, Hendricks and Irvin. After Brown, you have a lot of people to consider: - Kelly, Kosar, Testaverde, - Edge, Foreman - Wayne, AJ, E. Brown, Hester - Sapp, Maryland...

Warren Sapp's Mt Rushmore of U players

i defined it to balance significance, title leadership and brand, because it’s hard to sort otherwise for me. on your criterion, i’d have to put sean taylor on it too. but that’s what makes for a great discussion.

depends on your criteria. define them. what’s the importance of title team? what’s the importance of brand building? i put him there on excellence and cfb significance, but if you prioritize those two traits you can omit him.

i put him as my 4th also. but reed and hendricks are cfb and nfl hof, and irvin kinda built the brand given his nfl hof career then tv career. but agree brown was the brand daddy in the ‘80s.

There is no way you can leave Ed Reed off that team. I personally think Irvin ans Hendricks belong on it but can make the argument against either based on how the criteria is defined. On almost any criteria Reed is in.

How many people were on 3 UM title teams? Leon Searcy was.

You can be whatever you want. When you call yourself names, have at it. I am a huge ST fan, but that comment doesn't square at all with UM history. He didn't start on a title team. He played 2 seasons of impact ball. He's not in the college football hall of fame or the pro football hall of...

Define criteria. CFB impact - Major awards / CFB HOF (Hendricks, Reed, Maryland, Testaverde, Toretta, Sapp, E. Brown, Wayne, D. Smith, Barrow, McKinnie, Searcy, Be. Blades, Morgan, Dorsey, Kosar, Kelly, J. Brown, S. Taylor) Brand impact - qualitative (TV: Irvin, Lewis, Reed, Sapp, JJ + Howard...

Warren Sapp's Mt Rushmore of U players

I can't see an argument against Reed, Hendricks and Irvin. The only discussion is who's 4th.

Warren Sapp's Mt Rushmore of U players

I have Hendricks up there as well, but he's something like a pre-historic figure -- played before UM was what the program is or became, before any titles. So can debate how that works from a 'Mr. Rushmore' (brand) perspective. I still have him there because there's an award named after him...

Warren Sapp's Mt Rushmore of U players

You have to define your criteria first but IMO Otto doesn't deserve to be on UM's Mt. Rushmore for what he did in the NFL. I can understand viewing the NFL as relevant in two ways: if you built the brand for the U (Reed, Lewis, Irvin, particularly, Taylor, Sapp also). And then next as a...

Warren Sapp's Mt Rushmore of U players

Here's my take: Criteria: impact at UM on their team and on CFB generally, including titles and CFB awards and CFB HOF; also impact on UM brand including through NFL impact: Top 4: Irvin, Reed, Ted Hendricks, Jerome Brown Runners up (no order): Jim Kelly, Testaverde, Kosar, Toretta, Be...

He's no worse than 2d on a UM mt rushmore, and you can rotate a few people through no.1
