I don't know how accurate that is. Chaminade is in Hollywood Hills which is mostly older white people and Heritage is in west Plantation which is mostly rednecks and yuppies.

Magnet programs are just special programs for really smart kids. It doesn't affect the rest of the student body. **** most of the kids in magnet programs don't even interact with a majority of the other kids. My ex was in the magnet program at Gables back when Vilma and Frank Gore were playing.

Their first year was 1996-97 and that was my senior year at Cooper City. It was nice because Cooper City was overcrowded af and once Flanagan opened, it was like 1/2 the kids left. My sister and my younger cousins ended up going there.

It's Pembroke Pines. That's where I would have went if it was open when I was in high school. Instead I went to the real Bayside High, Cooper City.

Flanagan has been pretty much garbage every year outside of the few years Devon Bush brought in all those kids from Dade county.

It's not that common. At least not for the private powerhouses in Broward county. When they do it's usually to a public school that recruits as much or more.

That's true. For a lot of the kids, the private schools are a better environment than some of the public schools. Also, the general coaching, training, etc will be more involved. Not that there aren't great public school coaches because there are but there's also a lot of public school coaches...

Any school that's competitive in South Florida is recruiting. The big Broward private schools and the public superpowers in Dade are the most glaring examples but there are public schools in Broward who definitely recruit players, just not at the level of STA, Chaminade or Heritage. Western in...

Don’t get it wrong, public schools recruit too. Especially since school choice started. For every kid that leaves Plantation to play at Heritage, Plantation takes a kid from South Plant or Piper.

You see kids putting offers from STA and Heritage on their social media like it’s a college offer. Half them just do it for the clout.

It’s wash, rinse repeat with the southeast Broward public schools. South Broward, Hallandale and Mc Arthur put together solid teams every few years but as soon as that happens, the kids all bolt to other schools. There’s good kids in Hollywood but they mostly end up at Chaminade.

I know their head coach is the one responsible for turning them into a "recruiting" team. Coach Ratk was an assistant at Cooper City when I went there in the 90's. He was either fresh out of college or possibly still in school back then.
