Jacurri Brown gaining steam as '22 QB

Most people understand this is an upside bet. Lamar Jackson’s completion percentage was 43% as a junior. Jacurri probably won’t turn out like Lamar. But if anyone is going make that kind of leap, it’s going to be someone with height, natural arm talent and home-run speed. To me, it comes down...

Jacurri Brown gaining steam as '22 QB

100% agree. We're seeing the same thing. And the rave reviews on his character are encouraging in terms of projecting improvement. Another thing I noticed is that his WRs couldn't keep up with his arm talent. Some of those throws are big completions at a school like STA or Northwestern.

They were weak there in the games I watched. His best receiver was an low-level FCS guy.

Jacurri Brown gaining steam as '22 QB

@bradtejeda spoke with Jacurri and confirmed: Jacurri goes by the nickname “HBK” in honor of the Heartbreak Kid, Shawn Michaels. QB1 in my book.

Can someone translate this caption for me? Is Jacurri a fan of the “Heartbreak Kid” Shawn Michaels?

Jacurri Brown gaining steam as '22 QB

Sounds like they will be hanging out with Jalar Holley. Bond has mentioned a couple times that he is intrigued by the city of Miami. Hopefully he is the type of kid who is not attracted to a college town like Athens.

Yep that was great to read. His head coach also speaks highly of his character and reputation in the community.

Jacurri is posting a blog on SI.com. He likes fishing and is learning Spanish. Maybe he already knows his destination? https://www.si.com/college/recruiting/football/coveted-qb-recruit-jacurri-brown-kicks-off-si-all-american-blog

Jacurri Brown gaining steam as '22 QB

Honestly, I haven’t watched enough of the other QBs. A bunch of the top guys are already off the board. Braedyn Locke may not have the high ceiling but looks like a guy who will throw for a million yards in college.

Jacurri Brown gaining steam as '22 QB

Agree with this. It’s an upside take. If you like the kid and believe in the intangibles, it’s worth the offer because of the potential. High ceiling and low floor.

Jacurri Brown gaining steam as '22 QB

After watching a few games, it’s not really his pure passing ability that concerns me. He has a strong arm, a clean release and should get more accurate with improved footwork. Where he really struggled was reading defenses and making confident decisions in the passing game. The OC will be...

Jacurri Brown gaining steam as '22 QB

His straight-line speed is pretty unique. Agreed that I'd like to see more lateral quicks in tight spaces, but he can make guys miss once he gets downhill.

Just for comparison, here are Lamar Jackson's junior stats at Boynton Beach: 43% completion, 1,264 yards, 19 TDs and 6 picks. 960 yards rushing and 10 TDs. And here are Jacurri Brown's junior stats: 48% completion, 1,537 yards, 14 TDs and 7 picks. 1,108 yards rushing and 16 TDs. To be clear...

Jacurri Brown gaining steam as '22 QB

The Sitkowski comparison is unfair. This kid is a way better football player. Sitkowski couldn't run and got benched as a senior. Brown is 24-3 as a starter and is often the most impactful player on the field. The passing concerns are legit, of course. If he was a polished passer, he'd be the...

Jacurri Brown gaining steam as '22 QB

To be fair, it's only his passing stats. He's running for 1K+ every year and winning 89% of his games.

I haven't seen enough of the other guys to say that with confidence. But he's definitely worthy of an offer, especially with TVD and Garcia already in the fold. The physical tools are special.

Jacurri Brown gaining steam as '22 QB

I watched two games (Valdosta and Cedar Hill). Brown was the best player on the field in the Valdosta game. He outran everyone for multiple long TDs and threw some ropes. Against Collins Hill, he made poor decisions and was clearly outplayed by Sam Horn. My take is that he's a developmental...

Jacurri Brown gaining steam as '22 QB

QBs commit early, and their decisions impact others due to the limited spots. The tea leaves suggest Brown (#11 QB in country) may be trending to Miami. Gaby Urrutia had an interview with Brown where he said his relationship with Lashlee is taking off. The other schools Brown named are TAMU...
