MEGA Conference Realignment and lawsuits Megathread(Its still personal)

How can I take any of this seriously when Stanford is ranked above Oregon and Washington. Cal is ranked above Oregon. We don't have to guess at some of these spots, we have real life data that shows this ranking is flawed.

Agreed. How many times the ACC got to get sued to crack it open? If 1 lawsuit works, why should Miami spend money when FSU is already burning through theirs to open the door?

Hard to say, but my thought is you probably have schools in 3 camps: Schools that have hard landing spots already if they leave the ACC - FSU, Clemson, UNC, and probably Miami Schools that likely don't have hard landing spots yet, but see the writing on the wall and either like their chances...

This seems like the most likely scenario to me, I think the 2 most likely outcomes are: SEC protects territory and takes a large group of ACC southern programs. A big grouping like Miami, FSU, GT, Clemson, UNC, NCSt, UVA, & VT, to get to and rest at 24 teams. My reasoning is: ESPN owns both...

Anyone putting UNC that high has their head too far up their own *** to be trusted. UNC might have brand appeal, but their football historically sucks and if they're not packaged with Duke they're even less interesting.

More like ND is trying to preserve the ACC from completely collapsing to make sure they always have a place to park their non-football sports.

This is just another way to describe unequal revenue distribution haha.

If FSU has to take out a half billion dollar loan to leave the ACC, I think most likely they either end up in the SEC or end up in the B1G with Stanford. Nobody wants to straddle down with debt of that magnitude, it would take longer to pay it off than just staying in the ACC and accepting...

This board right now: Why didn't the slow ACC make a deal with the Pac-12 beforehand? Also this board right now: Oh no, why is the ACC in talks with Stanford and Cal?

    1) Don't underestimate the desire of school presidents to prefer to associate with other academic institutions. 2) ESPN has lost direct access to all major west coast programs, Stanford and Cal are it. They will also be able to get the rest of the ACC big hitters on that late timeslot. And...

I won't be shocked if these 2 get invites/lifelines to the ACC, ala WVU to the BigXII years ago. It won't be cheap travel for those 2 schools to come east for everything, but if the choice is either that or go completely irrelevant in the MWC at 4M a year, they'll take whatever disbursement...

B1G has been flirting with GT for years. GT might not be the top of their wishlist, but if it greases the wheels to dissolving the GOR and making the moves happen, I'd bet GT would go ahead and be a take. So I could see this as being plausible. But the harder programs for me to believe...

I think it's too early to tell. The west coast has been a dumpster fire for elite football since Pete Carrol left USC. The B1G setting up a presence across the country and getting all regions paid on the same level as the SEC or more gets the first chance for real parity in the sport that...

Bro I don't know if even UVA fans care about UVA football. I can't see the SEC going UVA over VT.

If the B1G is looking at 4 ACC schools, FSU, Miami, and Clemson, who is realistically number 4? Seems like UNC would be tied up in politics and the least likely to leave the ACC until the writing is on the wall. Does GT get the nod in the 4th spot?

Only if you think the B1G is going to stop at 20. I think they'll go to atleast 24, if not 28, if they can work out the funding. They got their own network, if memory serves I think they get like a 10x increase in subscriber fee for every state they've got a school in. I think their...

Agree, to a point. But Texas leaving isn't really a straight comparison. The bigXII was already a broken conference, TexasAM had already left a few years before then. There were rumors circulating for a while that Texas, OU, and a few others were considering leaving going as a block to the...

How is it the southeast teams that are ACC and SEC rivals continue to play, but all these southwest ones are being canceled left and right?

Heard somewhere yesterday that USC doesn't want UO or any additional west coast schools in the conference. BigTen leadership probably does want additional programs, but it's not as clean for additional western schools as it may seem.

It's just common sense. It almost feels like the writer put together metrics that meet the outcome he was hoping for. I give them credit for dicing everything into metrics, it's smart and probably the way the league heads are reviewing expansion candidates to some extent, but your assessment...
