    Manny Diaz??

Wish him nothing but the best. He loved Miami. Gave us his all. He wasn't stubborn, instead he was willing to adapt and change. He just couldn't get it done.

    Cristomoron versus Kiffin

How is this even a thread or being debated? The difference between these guys is night and day. Cristobal is statistically one of the worst coaches in canes history so far. Lane is 9-2 and ranked #12 at Ole freaking Miss. There is nothing to compare here. What's next? A thread comparing Bill...

We need a dude at running back

Not wrong. Not at all. In fact, 0% wrong. He had a nice game but he's still not a stud, difference maker that is going to scare the other team. Dude has no speed and his vision is still lacking. I was really excited to see him make a couple guys miss yesterday though. Normally he awkwardly...

What progress looks like in year 3 for Mario?

Recruiting takes a dive because recruits don't like the product on the field, not because the fans are criticizing the coach.

    TVD Injury

Injury may have been part of the problem but there was clearly other stuff going on too. Loss of confidence, mental issues, yips...etc.

    Tremendous year over year improvement

OP is celebrating going from horrendous to really bad.

    Lincoln Riley

No they aren't. You're confusing talent with better coaching which is a pretty common mistake.

    Pack it up boys

How is anyone surprised? These are the exact cons that we all talked about before we hired him. It couldn't be playing out any more predictably.

    The most frustrating part

This is very well said. The object is to get a first down. Any way you can. Usually you can more effectively do that by fooling the defense. If you telegraph run, the defense expects run, and then you run....you are setting yourself up for failure. Watch any nfl game. On short yardage...

    Mark Fletcher

Is parrish still hurt? Would much rather see him out there.

We need a dude at running back

Dmoney and others told us that Fletcher was going to be that guy. Spoiler alert....he's not. His vision stinks. Can't find a hole unless it's right in front of his face and he has this awkward way of running right into defenders. When he gets to the second level, he can't break a tackle or...

    FiZiCaL

This. Yeah we have no qb. So if you can't throw, why would you run the same running play up the middle over and over and over again? I don't recall even a single outside run all game long. Really terrible stuff.

    Everytime I see a

We can be the most physical team in the history of college football but at the end of the day it's about wins and losses. If we aren't winning more, it doesn't matter. It's not about just fixing the physicality of our football team. It's about winning. Through 2 years Mario is losing. A lot.

This is exactly why you hire a head coach who is a badass at one side of the ball. Then you know that side will always be good and the HC only has to hit on one coordinator hire. Which obviously is much easier than have to nail 2 coordinator hires, which is what Mario has to do.

    Not breaking news, but…

Mario didn't randomly decide to meddle with an offense that was humming. For whatever reason, TVD totally fell apart and became virtually unplayable. What to do about it is what the op is talking about. Dawson had some ideas on how to get TVD going but Mario said no we're going to trot out 6...

There will always be important decisions for the head coach to make

That is the problem for Mario going forward. This year it was kneeling and it was also having a feel for when to bench Van Dyke etc (newsflash, a coach with a good feel for decision making would have already benched him.) Last year he had to hire an entire staff and there were major failures...

    Miami +14 vs. FSU

Van Dyke starts and we lose BIG. Williams starts and that would probably energize the team and make it competitive.

What do all of these coaches have in common?

This. You need a head coach who can own one side of the ball. Hiring really good coordinators isn't easy. You're going to have some hits and some misses. That goes for all head coaches. If you are an expert on one side of the ball, you only need to hit on one coordinator hire. But if you...
