Unfortunately, the more that was put on the tape, the more the potential didn't match the production. I don't think that's a Mario issue but rather the fact that the potential was aggrandized as a result of star rankings.

I don't agree. Look at the transfer portal the last couple years. You get a select few high profile transfers at the glamour spots (QB, WR, RB) looking for a pay-day and/or to enhance their draft position. Apart from those positions, there are usually less at the other positions, and even less...

I think not just this thread, but the site in general, is way too harsh and exacting re: portal recruiting. Some gems but largely mediocre players that are nothing more than depth pieces. You can’t expect anyone to kill it in the portal unless you have an unlimited budget.
