2020 DL Simeon Barrow Jr | 28 TFLs 15 Sacks

That guy is in college? Jesus. He looks like he's 38 with 2 kids.

It’s amazing how stupid people are

Unfortunately, the more that was put on the tape, the more the potential didn't match the production. I don't think that's a Mario issue but rather the fact that the potential was aggrandized as a result of star rankings.

    The portal wave was overhyped....

I swear when I read the thread title, I would have bet it was a @fraggle thread.

    Citizen Portal

It really depends on Fletcher. If he’s a go, portal (Martinez?), Fletcher and Allen + CWH, Johnson, and Lyles is more than sufficient.

Rumor Oregon DB Daylen Austin (Maybe killed someone)

Smells like a car accident turned disagreement turned murder.

RB Damien Martinez enters the Portal

Haha, reminds me of the Dan Enos playsheet in the rain photo.

CBS Sports names their Top 100 players in college football for the '24 season

Is it me, or is talent down this year a little bit?

    Citizen Portal

I sure hope Fletcher is back but I'm suspect about anything this staff says about injuries and return dates. I hope I'm wrong. But let's assume Fletcher isn't back. That leaves likely a portal RB and Allen as the only guys with actual collegiate experience; Johnson has a total of 11 carries in...

    Matt Merritt?

This guy is like the board's version of Susan. You don't really like it all that much, but it kind of makes this board uniquely interesting in a way, so you just accept it and move on.

I don't mean to critique the staff because college athletes are unpredictable . . . but assuming that they knew of Fletcher's injury (whatever it is), then why let Parrish and Chaney get away? Either one of those guys with a demonstrated history of actual collegiate production would be really...

    Class of 2022

I'm not digging into the weeds. If the narrative is going to be that Mario (or any coach) struck out in the portal, then I want to know where the equivalent Cam Ward level impact players are at other spots. I feel like there's 20-25 good players in the portal and then a huge heap of mediocrity...

    Class of 2022

I don't agree. Look at the transfer portal the last couple years. You get a select few high profile transfers at the glamour spots (QB, WR, RB) looking for a pay-day and/or to enhance their draft position. Apart from those positions, there are usually less at the other positions, and even less...

    Class of 2022

I think not just this thread, but the site in general, is way too harsh and exacting re: portal recruiting. Some gems but largely mediocre players that are nothing more than depth pieces. You can’t expect anyone to kill it in the portal unless you have an unlimited budget.

Why it’s so hard to recruit/beat Ohio State

    A mid-level manager? He’s 56-8. What’s Mario then? The janitor?

    Huge loss for the program

In weird ways, we'll all miss her. For better or worse, she was a part of this program. I hope she enjoys retirement.

    Caneville Clowns

He did. Let’s not be ignorant or as disingenuous as he was. It was not a post that discussed the actual merits or abilities of the quarterbacks. Instead, it was a post playing dumb saying he went from 1st string to 4th string and he didn’t know why. The implication was very clear. And btw, I...

Word is fletcher is out for the season…

This is awesome to hear (cool photo too!) but it is hard to expect objectivity from an injured player about their return to action-and a college kid at that. Not the most trustworthy source, but again, I hope we just have bad info on this thread.

Who are you referring to? Mauigoa?

    Quick takes from Spring Game

Sure. But don't you think Michigan got a little lucky with the draw? I don't think Michigan beats a lot of the prior playoff teams we've seen led by a lot of really good QBs (Tua, Mac Jones, Burrows, Fields, Lawrence, the Oklahoma QBs), etc. Heck, I think if Georgia is in and not Bama, Georgia...

    Quick takes from Spring Game

But what is "fine" from your standards? I do agree that if we continue to recruit well (and I'm really bullish on that front), we should be a 10 win team consistently, which would be night-and-day better than what we've had for the last 2 decades (and many of us would be thrilled with that). But...
