    Tyler Baron DE

The Rule doesn’t outright ban intraconference transferring. But you have to declare by February 1. So it only bans intraconference transferring within the spring window. So the Rule would be/was irrelevant to Baron, since he left before February 1.

    jacurri brown in the portal

He needs to go to a Veer and Shoot offense. Insanely simple reads. Insanely wide splits. Easy to diagnose the coverage. And heavy on throwing the ball downfield. ****, even the RPO aspects of it can be a long throw just because of how wide the splits are. It would have a chance to do for...

Look to the Transfer Portal: Discussion thread

That’s mostly all that’s ever in the portal. This past fall there were only 40 players that even had a .93+ ranking. And some of those were guys like Marvin Jones Jr. and Dante Moore, who have done nothing in college, but aren’t removed enough from their high school years to drop them too...

    Miami Flo's Predictions

I could see this. You almost have to take this kind of “Moneyball” approach to the portal.

    2024 DJ Lagway - QB

Especially with the kind of offense they run with Mertz. You don’t need an experienced QB to hand off and then throw the ball behind the LOS or short of the sticks every play. Anybody can do that. So at least try to sell the youth movement.

    Buzz from Saturday’s practice

Between QB, TEs, the OL, what is returning at WR and the recruiting rankings of the other guys at WR, it would be difficult justifying spending limited NIL resources on a legit WR if that comes at the expense of DB or RB. There’s no guarantee the CB room is even an above average P4 unit. If...

    Parrish to the portal

Shannon Dawson’s only successful season as an OC was when his RB room got so bad he had to run a more traditional Air Raid and throw the ball. And now our RB room is being depleted. I like where this is going…

Robby Washington playing CB at practice today

Good. CB room needs guys with high ceilings.

    Cormani out at CU

They have to be looking at CB as the number 1 portal priority. The room needs dudes with high talent ceilings. If you aren’t giving one of those spots to a dude who is one year removed from being the number 1 corner out of high school, whom are you saving it for? Chances are nothing even...

Mertz says we're trash there's no need to get ready

If Mario allowed the offense to open up, the game wouldn’t be close. UF’s defense is trash, and their offense is tailor made for the defense. They don’t challenge corners because Mertz is scared to actually throw the ball, so everything is short passes behind the LOS. But Mario is going to...

    Tears Nole Tears (“Offcial”)

Yep. Verse had a 93 college rating coming out of Albany. To have that rating, you’re either: 1. Already a superstar in college 2. A former 5* or borderline 5* not removed enough from high school to justify dropping your college ranking too low. Verse wasn’t the second group. There’s only...

Dawson talks offense after spring practice #2

Dawson really knows to show something this year. While Miami’s offense did take a big jump, if you look at SP+ 2023 pre-season projections, the computer had us making that kind of jump just due to the amount of production we returned. And the computer didn’t take into account Gattis being...

Football School: Does Miami really run an Air Raid?

I don’t really remember the early Air Raid guys going fast or playing with tempo. That seems more like something that was adopted later on with the influence of Briles and Texas high school football and Chip Kelly. And now Air Raid route tree guys like Dykes and Lashlee use it.

Official New DB Coach, per Canesport (*Official, 2.21*)

And people should freak out about it. Mario himself would freak out about it.

    Pat Surtain

Yep. People that say, “all I’m saying is recruiting isn’t enough. You need coaching” are saying nothing. Of course you need both. But it’s like baseball. Would you love a team filled with guys that can both play the field and hit? Sure. But that’s a unicorn. So you prioritize positions...

    Pat Surtain

Who believes that recruits literally don’t need coaching? But the evidence does seem to indicate that cornerbacks do not need a ton of coaching if you hit on the elite ranked recruits. which means it’s a position that should be a recruiting first hire, rather than a technician first hire.

    Pat Surtain

This is wrong. Cornerback has the highest recruiting hit rate. “Cornerback tops the list, although this was an odd breakdown. Twelve of the 17 five-star corners were hits, and nine of the 17 were taken in the first two rounds, which are both outstanding hit rates.”...

    Mario and Mirabal’s Offensive Mentality

That’s not the point. The thread is about Mario and his mentality. It might be true that playing no TE and stretching the field with 4 wide, wouldn’t have mattered enough due to the poor QB play. But it’s 100% true that the TE position group was horrible, and should not have been on the field...
