I’m not arguing that. It’s just that defending the run isn’t about just clogging up the A gap with some behemoth. While we were 11th against the run with our smaller DTs, Florida finished 79th against the run with 450 pound fat asses. Outside of short yardage most teams aren’t running iso. North...

2003 says otherwise. He single handedly blew that season and one of UM all time best defenses.

What is the average yards per carry in an NCAA FBS game? Hint: it’s around 4.5. Miami’s average on defense was 3.3. That game where we gave up 3.7 and lost was against Georgia Tech. You’re going to pin that loss on run defense? One of the other losses you mentioned was NCState. You’re pinning...

Miami was 11th in the nation in rush defense. Only 3 teams ran for over 150 yards against them last year and one was the bowl game when we had 3 healthy defensive linemen. The only really bad rushing performance was North Carolina

Respectfully disagree re: JHH vs Taylor. They asked Leonard Taylor to do a lot of things JHH can’t do. You’d never see Hunte lined up at zero or 1. That’s pretty much what they made Taylor do all year because they had a bunch of 280 lb guys at tackle. Everything else is spot on.

Yeah, I’m still trying to figure out why Arizona thinks they’re good. When you finally have a coach with a winning record for the first time in like 30 years and he bolts as soon as he gets another offer, you’re a B tier program.

    Jayden Wayne to the portal

I know it’s been a long time but this is what happens when you create competition for positions. People are going to get passed on the depth chart and look to play elsewhere. You factor in NIL and how it has to be managed like a salary cap, you have to weigh someone’s production/potential vs...

I’m not saying teams won’t be interested. My question was, is some SEC team going to drop a bag for a guy of his caliber? I mean I guess it’s all relative to what he would earn at Miami but I can’t imagine teams are lining up to give this guy a huge NIL deal

I’m curious if someone will give him a fat check. We’re talking about a 280 ish defensive tackle who has averaged 20 tackles and 2 sacks per season. He’s undersized but isn’t a good pass rusher. He’s in his 6th season of college football so he’s not going to make some kind of jump at 23 years...

Not sure how much money he’s going to be able to command. He’s essentially been a four year backup/rotational guy. We could have used him because we’re desperate but if we weren’t offering him enough I doubt someone else is going to offer much more.

    JHH Portal

I think he’s using our DT situation as leverage. I don’t blame him because we don’t have many options but he’s an average player that likely isn’t going to get a big offer in the portal. Would not be surprised to see him back if we don’t upgrade. It hurts more because of the position than the...

New ACC TV deal with CW

Remember when they’d air the low priority games on local NBC 6 with Frank Forte calling the Miami/Rutgers action?

A RB has numerous assignments too but if he’s your best blocker, you’re in trouble. Let’s put it this way, if you’re leaving your tight end on an island to block your opponent’s best edge rusher, your quarterback isn’t going to finish the game

    TVD transferring from whisky?

I mean, this is an extreme outlier. Tight ends that catch but can’t block get drafted every year often times early. Tight ends that block but can’t catch almost never get drafted. Not sure where you learned that but if your tight end is your best blocker, you have the worst offensive line ever.

    Cormani out at CU

This is why I’d be hesitant on bringing in Cormani at all. I watched Colorado last year. They were absolute dog **** on defense. Couldn’t stop anyone. Yet this 5 star kid still couldn’t crack the rotation. If he couldn’t play for that defense, he’s not good. They needed all the help they could...

    TVD transferring from whisky?

I’d still take him 10/10 over Mc Cormick. TE blocking is incredibly overrated. The best ones aren’t exactly good blockers and the ones that are don’t get drafted. Mallory couldn’t block but either could Njoku and nobody complained about him.

Were those guys really that good? Rambo was a JAG at Oklahoma, had one good season here and went undrafted. Harley was consistently decent but never special and went undrafted. X, George and Young were a better group than Rambo and Harley.

Miami hasn’t had an OC last past two seasons since Kaaya. It’s tough to develop quarterbacks when there’s a new offensive system and quarterback coach every year.

    TVD transferring from whisky?

Combination of issues. The aforementioned lack of competition. Three offenses in three years and the fact that the staff kept rolling him out to play in games where he was hurt and had no business playing. But that goes back to the original point about having no other options
