Now that we know who has signed, here's how it looks like the team will be in 2017:

Roster

C: Amditis
1B: Barr
2B: Bautista
SS: Ruiz
3B: Michelangeli
OF: Davison, Chester, Tackett
DH: Cooley

Bench: Gonzalez, Alvarez, Crocitto, Gomez, 3-4 Freshmen

SP: Cabezas
SP: Mediavilla
SP: Lepore
Weekday SP: Sosa or Pimentel

Closer: Bartow
Bullpen: Veliz, Studstill, Meyer, Musa, McKendry, Hammond, 2-3 other Freshmen

Analysis

Strengths: Speed & baserunning, defensive range, hitting for average, starting ptiching
Weaknesses: Lack of power, lack of strong arms in the field, unproven bullpen with no lefties

Thoughts: The success of this team comes down to Freshmen pitching and JUCO hitting. The incoming players are extremely talented, but it remains to be seen how that talent will translate. If everything comes together, this could be a National Seed that returns to Omaha. If not, this will be a 2 or 3 seed that is an easy out in Regionals

Good info. Although, we did sign JUCO LHP Jeb Bargfeldt. He pitched at Wichita St. before transfering to Cisco College, leading them to the JUCO World Series this past spring.

According to canesport article today we got tgese two guys as well....

JUCO LHP Ray Catena

Catena transfers from Broward College, where he led the Seahawk staff in appearances (22) and earned run average (0.91) last season. He played one year at the University of Southern Mississippi before transferring to Broward, and he originally played at Park Vista High School.

Transfer SS/2B Brandon Gali

A Polk State transfer who grew up in Louisville, Ky., Gali is a 5-foot-11, 170-pound switch-hitter he struggled last season with a .219 batting average and had 26 runs, 28 RBI and 13 stolen bases in 56 games.

everyone seems so certain that Amditis is gonna get the job behind the plate were Collins backups that bad or is this kid that good?

Amditis is the real deal. Would have been high round pick if not for an injury his senior year.

Amditis is an excellent replacement. Gomez is also a solid backup and in highly limited appearances batted 0.300 last year. Competition between the two will only help. Shortstop is the only position that does not appear to have a true representative player.

Wonder if Studstill will pitch or bat or both.

Hopefully we have a couple backups this yr that are capable of playing and giving our guys a break every now and then. Would be nice to see romy, gomez, crocitto or another freshman to step up.

The coaching staff is also supposedly high on Alvarez (freshman this year). Justin Smith claims on his Facebook page that he will be back, but I find that to be doubtful.

Would be ideal to have Cabezas, Meyer, Bartow as your 7/8/9th inning guys.

Midtown, Lepore, Pimintel, Sosa the starters

Meh! Missing power. We would need some stellar pitching to get back to Omaha. I don't see it for next year.

combined career #s for Mediavilla and Lepore

23-4, 2.57 ERA

The team should once again be pretty **** good if Davison, Cooley, Tackett, Amditis are the real deal.

Notable names missing from the current roster:

Meyer
Crocitto
Musa

Meyer was actually pretty dependable. Agree on the other two though.
We have like 8 new arms arriving so whatever the case, not a big deal.
