Tim Irvin and Jordan Cronkrite update

Nash Williams
Friday night I got to see Westminster Christian dominate Westminster Academy 49-20. The game was a lot more lopsided than the scoreboard showed.

Thanks to good performances by 2015 RB and Miami commit Jordan Cronkrite, who had a 20-yard touchdown run in the first half, and also 2015 athlete Tim Irvin. Irvin added a fumble recovery on the first play from scrimmage and also a wide-open touchdown catch in the first half.

Didn't get to see much of the two on the field as both saw limited action as expected but I spoke with both after the game..

For a few months now some Hurricanes fans have questioned Cronkrite's commitment as he has made it known that he is not to pleased with the Hurricanes possibly taking four running backs in the 2015 recruiting cycle.

"The coaches keep telling me that it would be a great situation for all of us to come in you know. (Running backs) Coach Harris is a great guy. He is experienced and knows what he is talking about," said Cronkrite.

Cronkrite says he continues to hear a lot from South Carolina, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Notre Dame and Florida.

His teammate Tim Irvin, who is currently uncommitted, has made it known on several occasions that he and Miami Killian star, and new Miami commit JaQuan Johnson could possibly be a package deal come National Signing Day.

"Yeah, so, JaQuan had called my phone the day he committed and he was telling me how he felt like Miami was just his home and all that. He felt like Al Golden and Paul Williams took him in as their son. I just felt proud of him and we talked about the thing how hopefully we might hook up together down the road," said Irvin.

Irvin informed me that this upcoming week is when he would like to plan all five of his official visits and that he still wants to commit in December.

Would you say Cronkrite is still solid?

So you got generic answers from the both of them.

Good stuff tho Nash

Excited to see what Cronk will do this year with an expanded workload at RB. Expecting Scarlett, Williams, and Cronk to play "can you top this" all season long with their respective teams. All three should have monster years.

Goes without saying that Irvin is a stud, too.

For the record - he questioned his commitment before we did.

I hope all of the RB's stick...Miami is known for its competition at each position its about time we got back to that

I still hope we get all the rb recruits first and foremost.

Seems like this staff is always focusing one or two playmakers that can fill multiple rolls each class. This last class everybody was talking Trayone Gray at receiver/ running back. This class I see Dex filling that role. Will be interesting to see how they are used as they are sophs and on. Maybe like Reggie Bush was used at USC with White? There have been programs that have had success featuring 2 different style backs.

As far as Irvin is concerned - it has been said that Quan and him are buddies. I have to assume Cronkite and Irvin are even closer seeing they play on the same team. One would think that if Cronkite drops out - that would have an effect on Irvin. Question is who is Irvin closer to - Quan or Cronkite and will the family legacy have anything to do with it.

Gotta keep Cronkrite, that kid is the truth.

I like that tim is commiting at a all star game gives us more momentum during that time unlike last year

I think Cronk sticks, but not if we have all 4 come in at the same time. I think Walton will be 2016 early enrollment anyways. Think we keep JS, Cronk and Dex.

And I'm **** sure Tim Irvin ain't going anywhere but the U. Especially with Jaquan here, and I'm sure Cole will be coming along and Cronk here? Yeah, I don't see an Irvin being a gayturd. Cane all the way.

I can understand Cronkrite's concern. Considering we got Trayone and Yearby this year, neither them cats ain't no joke and Scarlett, Williams and possibly Walton. Although I want him, it'll be tough getting them all the reps the need and want.

Irvin and Cronk are not close and not even really friends. It's kinda a weird situation between the two. All throughout highschool they always got compared at the school and It made them kinda distant from eachother. Ontop of that, they both have two completely different personalities.

Yep...... Tried to tell them MONTHS ago Cronk probably won't end up here or if he does he's playing Safety/LB. Backfield will be loaded

Cronk as I've mentioned before has higher upside on the defensive side of the ball. I see a good RB, but a great safety. That's just me, but I'm sure others will agree, Cronk could be a nice safety. The other 3 JS, Dex and Walton all have potential to be great backs.

I could end up being wrong, but I see him with a future on defense. Could be great at strong safety.

I want Cronk at the U. Dude is a stud. Seems like a good cat as well.

That said, the drama from his whisperers can GTFOH.

Irvin's a lock...barring a season collapse of course

With the way things are going in today's NFL, I think we could convince all the backs to stick. We just have to continually explain how nfl teams don't want to draft a guy with too many miles. They will each have enough opportunity to show their worth, without being over worked (which also raises chances of injury). Lets just hope they all stay committed.
