The Work 12-3

**Miami had three coaches at Southridge – Deerfield Beach last night and the question that I had going into the game was would Miami offer safety Antwan Collier with a strong performance? Although he did not receive the offer last night, Miami is still showing signs that he will be getting one very soon. Collier told me that he has been in contact with Banda this morning and that he is setting up an in-home visit with Collier for next week, along with Mike Rumph – it’s very rare for coaches to make an in-home visit to a player that they don't want. He would be an immediate commitment if offered. As D Money noted in his game observations, Collier has continued to prove himself in multiple facets of the game this season, and in my opinion he has earned an offer. You can read D$’s full thoughts on the game here. I completely agree with his assessment of the Southridge defensive linemen – De’Andre Johnson is a really good looking prospect.

**Todd Hartley went in-home with TE Tre’ McKitty on Thursday and a source said it went extremely well. Miami has family working on their side here, as I’ve heard McKitty’s father is pushing for Miami. The decision of course is ultimately his, and Florida State is Miami’s biggest competition, but Mark Richt will go in-home with McKitty this Wednesday as well – this is a nice head-to-head battle. McKitty is an early enrollee who has taken his official visit to Miami already, but do not count out the possibility of him coming to campus on his own dime once more before making his final decision.

**Miami defensive line coach Craig Kuligowski is leaving no stone unturned. Over the past week, he has visited multiple top level defensive line prospects such as commits D.J. Johnson and Jonathan Garvin, targets Hunter Echols (USC commit), Elijah Conliffe, and then last night he was in Louisiana to check on defensive tackle target Phidarian Mathis. Not only did Kuligowski see Mathis play last night, but he also went in-home with him this week. Most had expected Mathis as an LSU lock, but sources say that his recruitment has taken a bit of a turn as Ed Orgeron did not retain his primary recruiter on staff at LSU. Look for Mathis to visit Miami soon. Alabama is on him as well.
It has become evident in the past week that the coaches are looking to add another defensive lineman to the class. Looking to next year, Miami could lose all five defensive tackles next year to graduation/draft.

**If you listened to this week’s podcast, you already know about this but I wanted to add to it. A couple different sources have said that Alabama is cooling on cornerback commit Jhavonte Dean, who Miami is recruiting. Dean is the junior college corner originally from South Dade high school. Manny Diaz dropped by his school this week and expressed Miami’s need for him – directly after which he said he will take an official visit to Miami. Dean told me this morning that he wants to set his trip for January – most likely the 13th weekend, which is shaping up to be a big one for the Canes. South Carolina is another team to watch for here is Dean’s recruitment.

**I’m sticking with the prediction of Kai-Leon Herbert and Tedarrell Slaton signing with Miami.

Good stuff, brosef.

1) All good with it being said if it helps recruiting, but I'd be very surprised if all three draft eligible DTs leave next year. Perhaps 2 go. However, if it helps us land an additional star, I'd sing that song, too.

2) Any word on why they're cooling on Dean? Something about his game?

Mathis supposedly has grade issues - true?

LSU is going hard after 5 star marvin Wilson so hopefully we can get Mathis.

I think we end up with McKitty.

When the race is close for a recruit, I think that Richt will do well closing. We don't have JV-level coaching and recruiting anymore....
