Defensive tackles are hard to find because there are only so many great ones walking the Earth. While there may be no superstars this year, this is a good group locally with several Power 5 prospects and quality depth.

Jonathan Ford- 6’5, 280 pounds (Dillard)- Ford, a Miami commitment, has offers from throughout the Southeast. Big and lean with the right body type to fill out. Perhaps the most gifted player on a highly talented Dillard line.

Rashad Colson- 6’5, 295 pounds (Carol City via Hialeah Miami-Lakes)- Rare combination of size and speed. Colson played at a struggling program and is still a work in progress as a football player. His time at Carol City will be critical to his development.

Kivon Bennett- 6’2, 260 pounds (St. Thomas Aquinas)- The son of Buffalo Bills and Alabama great Cornelius Bennett. Kivon plays with heavy hands and has very good closing speed for a defensive tackle. The lack of ideal size is the real knock on him, but still a very good prospect.

Beast95 Junior Year Highlights - Kivon Bennett highlights - Hudl

George Ellis III- 6’2, 300 pounds (American Heritage)- Big-bodied nose prospect. Very stout and adept at handling doubling teams. Would have been a good fit under Miami’s previous defensive system and will appeal to 3-4 teams.

Stay Tuned !!!! - George Ellis III highlights - Hudl

Chris Whittaker- 6’3, 250 pounds (Chaminade)- Versatile player who was an edge rusher as a junior. Good speed for a big man. Needs to gain some weight but has a high ceiling as a three-technique.

JUNIOR SEASON HIGHLIGHTS - Christopher Whittaker highlights - Hudl

Jacob Lichenstein- 6’4, 245 pounds (Cypress Bay)- Tall, physical player who projects as a three-technique or a 3-4 end. Already holds offers from Louisville and Kentucky.

Junior Season - Jacob Lichtenstein highlights - Hudl

Lamonte McDougle- 6’, 295 pounds (American Heritage-Delray)- Undersized tackle with tremendous production. Quick athlete who gets excellent leverage and is tough to block. Reminds me of Brandon Boyce, who played for Duke last year as a freshman.

SAVAGE SEASONS - Lamonte McDougle highlights - Hudl

"Posted on him back earlier in the year. He was 6-3/280 true freshman in this game film from last year....saw limited action but looks good against juniors and seniors....he is still developing and strength will increase greatly in next couple of years...is quick and had to be double teamed as a freshman to get him out...."

So the 3 DTs we possible go after/take in SoFla are Ford, Colson, and Bennett?

Did u intentionally leave Haslem and Rouse off your list they seem to have a chance to earn Miami offers this summer.

Here is a disrupter from Deerfield Beach and he does not have the surrounding top talent like STA and they beat STA--from TOS so will use quotes

Junior Season Highlights - Jamari Rouse highlights - Hudl

"Jamari Rouse (2017) Deerfield Beach... Played at 6-3/265 {250 as a sophomore}...very quick and disruptive...at attack style DT.....part of the group that beat St. Thomas last year 6-3....probably will be 280+ as a senior."

Anyone really think Bennett goes anywhere other than Bammer? If McDougle has the thick lower body and violent hands that his uncle did, sign him up. In Coach Kool We Trust.

Go Canes!

Haslem was listed with the guards. Rouse probably should've been included, he has ability.

Ford, Colson and that short bear from Pinellas Park would be an excellent DL haul. We must always identify first and secure any top DT from SoFl. So far so good with Ford. Be nice if we can once again attract some OOS top DT's to come to Miami like we used too.

Not a great crop. We better be putting all of our resource$ into getting some of the top national prospects.

not a great crop? normally we barely have any d1 level DT prospects in south florida. this is actually a pretty strong year.

grab one from south florida...seem to have one locked up with a potential other.....

do what bama does...and offer every able bodied dt prospect in America. this is a position you have to recruit nationbally, and state wide. S.fla wont produce this in bunches...if you have 2-4 legit 3 star level players in the area that's a good year.

Group isnt horrible. Keep Ford, take a "developmental" guy like Colson, Get 2 other OOS guys who can play and I will be happy.

Wanna see them in the thick of it for the elite DT talent though. Last Elite DT we pulled was who? Forston?

We're not taking 4 DT's. I would expect 5 being the max # of total DL this class. If we took 5 that would put us as 21 DL heading into 2017 which is over 4 deep. And even those numbers don't add up. You're using 24% of the allotted roster spots on 4 of the 22 positions on the field (18%).

Returning DT's 6
Returning DE's 9

Keep Ford, Get Colson and recruit two beasts from wherever you can find them and call it a day

Some of those DLinemen won't be here for to long
