Matthew_Suero
Week 6 of the NFL season just wrapped up. How did the Pro Canes perform this week? Let’s find out.

With Frank Gore on a bye week, it was the younger running backs on display this week. Duke Johnson ran the ball five times and came away with 34 yards. Mark Walton continues to earn a larger role with the Dolphins. He had 32 yards on six carries.

Another slow week for the receivers. Allen Hurns had two catches for 16 yards.

In the tight end room, Greg Olsen brought down four passes and gained 52 yards. Jimmy Graham had two catches for 17 yards.

On the offensive line, Brandon Linder and Ereck Flowers started for their respective teams while Seantrel Henderson played some off the bench.

On the defensive line, Trent Harris, RJ McIntosh, and Allen Bailey each had one tackle while Olivier Vernon had four. Olsen Pierre had two tackles. Callais Campbell had 5 tackles and a forced fumble. Anthony Chickallo had half a sack.

Linebacker Denzel Perryman had four tackles for the second week in a row.

@Matthew_Suero What’s your deal, dude?

Gus Edwards, mutha****a! 4 years in Coral Gables and he can’t get some recognition?!?

6 rushes, 34yards.

Not sure if Gus sees himself as a Cane. Coley and Ice Harris wasted his talent (So FL favoritism?). He sat behind Yearby and knew he was going to sit behind Walton, when we couldn't get a conversion on 3rd and inches. Now that's his specialty.

1. “Not sure…” isn’t good enough. There’s video of Gus throwing up the U when he first got to Baltimore. I think it was rookie camp.
2. Someone the likes of “Suero” or anyone else on CIS doesn’t get to say which football players who played football at Miami are Canes! Greentree is the naturalization process for the brotherhood/family, not season tickets/gear bought, degrees awarded, or posts made. (Head the nonsense off now: Cager is a Cane; Osborn is a Cane!)
3. Had Gus been a South Florida kid, I wonder if there would have been this reluctance to include him.

The fact that he wasn’t properly utilized during undergrad years is more damning to previous staffs, and that should be Manny Diaz’ mandate: how do you get the best out of these kids while they’re in Coral Gables. It‘s NOT just a matter of “evaluations”, it’s coaching and development. You have to coach the kids you got, not the ones you covet.
this is a great post and highlights a key issue.. you can't allow a kid to stay at a high-school level and play college football no matter how many stars he had. excellent player development is a critical area of an elite program.
