Over the past few practices, a few guys have really started to assert themselves and show their talent. Hopefully, it carries into the scrimmage and the season.

Malcolm Lewis is consistently making plays. He looks as confident as I've ever seen him and he's really starting to attack the ball. Physically, his routes have some pop and he has his deep speed back. Hope to see it continue.

Trent Harris has been great all camp but is really stepping up lately. In the past few days, he's had numerous sacks and pressures, a diving interception, a huge forced fumble and a batted down ball in coverage. Harris is just a good all-around player who is thriving in the new system.

Zach McCloud is really seizing the opportunity at linebacker with Grace in limbo. He is a missile sideline-to-sideline and has a habit of launching himself head-first into opposing offensive linemen. If he stays healthy, his ceiling is as high as anyone's.

The future of the TE position is in good hands. Michael Irvin II has probably seen more targets than anyone on the roster. The backup QBs look to him first because he is so savvy and QB-friendly. Jovani Haskins is more physical than I expected. He's very strong at the point of attack and has pancaked multiple defenders. He's still learning the position (former QB) but has made some spectacular, one-handed catches and displayed great potential as a receiver.

Malek Young is flashing with multiple INTs over the past few days. He started off camp going against the walk-ons and is now getting reps with the second unit. The more chances he gets to compete with the big boys, the better he will look. The 4th corner spot is wide open and Young has as good a shot as anyone.

Thank you for the update D. Sounds very promising, the season can't come soon enough!! The U!

Great news all around, especially hearing Malcolm coming on. Been pulling for him since that **** ankle injury.

One of the spring camp vids had a clip of Malc, made me say "Oh, that's his old speed." Gave a spark of hope.

Toolbox stays out working, out hustling, out outing the competitions.

AQM, Chad, Norton, McIntosh, Willis, Trent Harris, D Jackson, Joe Jackson, Jenkins, Moten & Pat Bethel... Our DLine is ******' stacked!

I can't wait to see those 3rd & long pressure rotations collapsing the pocket immediately getting opposing Offenses off the field.
There's nothing more demoralizing to a QB than on 3rd down knowing he won't have time to get rid of the ball.
Plus, with the speed we got at LB, those Blitz packages are going to cause **** for OL's.

Good to hear that about Malek Young.

3* or whatever, when the pads came on he was by far the best player on a loaded Creek team. I think he'll be a contributor this year then start next season

Good stuff. Happy for Malcolm. Young stepping up is huge. McCloud was just a matter of time. Trent doing his thing. Great news for the team. Thanks for the updates D$.

Go Canes!

Trent Harris kinda reminds me of the defensive version of Mike James.

Don't ask me why. I couldn't tell ya

Can we work on a new nickname for Trent? Just cause the person who gave him that awful nickname was a mega toolbox, doesn't mean he has to be branded with it forever.

Trent was a sack machine in high-school. Porsters on here calling this kid a hard worker with not much talent under the Folden regime were full of ****. How was anyone supposed to be a sack machine under that putridly futile scheme that Alfalfa ran.

Looks the the D-line is finally gonna eat this year, and I bet they're rabid, hungry, angry dogs. Kool's gonna have them foaming at the mouth. Whoever plays QB for the Noles this year better take out a life insurance policy. Same goes for D. Cook.

Please, lets do this. I thought the same thing the last time someone posted that awful nickname. Why would anyone want to associate him with a name, given that person who gave him the nickname actually thought he gave him some tools that he could use on game day.

Great news. We could conceivably have a starting trio of freshman LBs at some point this year maybe sooner than later. Hope Richards gets healthy soon.

Reading this has something emerging down my pant leg

Where is CoaRCh MaRcho to tell us how Malcolm Lewis was never "that" good in the 1st place and didn't deserve a scholarship?? Lol clown

Maybe we start a nickname thread? Great report D$, Thanks!

Great news about mccloud. I want LBer's who want to kill people compared to joining the Peace Corps.

The biggest surprise to me is Michael Irvin, not because I didn't think he was any good, but because if he is taking a lot of second unit reps, that means he is going up against the first unit defense. He has already become a safety blanket for our backup qbs that is facing a very good attacking front 7.

I like macho... he can make some good assesments but he lost me saying malcom didnt have the juice.

Cant trust your eye for talent as a coach saying that type of stuff
