Parrish lands offer, visit from Thomas Brown within same week

2020 Columbus RB Henry Parrish already owned offers from the likes of Power 5 schools such as Indiana, Iowa, and Pitt, but had his recruitment ratcheted up a notch over the weekend when he received a verbal scholarship from running backs coach Thomas Brown and the Canes after making a visit for UM’s game vs. Pitt on Saturday.

“He called me, he couldn’t make it in person after Miami’s game, so he just called me over the phone,” Parrish said of Brown. “It felt great. My cousin always told me to be patient, that it would come. So, I was just staying humble and being patient, and it came.”

Parrish’s relationship with the Canes is very new, but Miami is already starting to make in-roads with the star running back.

“We just started talking really over the weekend,” Parrish said. “He tells me how the program was, all the great running backs that have come through there. And how they use the running back in different ways, like how DeeJay Dallas returned the punt for the touchdown.”

Even though UM came through with the offer, Miami has let him know that their interest in him is legit: Brown was at Columbus’ practice yesterday to watch Parrish play.

“I seen coach Brown yesterday at practice,” Parrish said. “I didn’t get to shake his hand cause I was in the middle of practice, but he was out there. It was cool.”

Now that Parrish has an offer from the Canes, what about Miami has his attention?

“It’s not that it’s close to home, but I don’t know, I just like the U,” Parrish said. “It’s hard to describe, it’s just that feeling.”

Despite an injured shoulder in the first round of the 8A Playoffs against Coral Gables, Parrish has stayed right on course with his huge junior season to help carry Columbus to their semifinal matchup this week against Deerfield Beach.

“My junior year is going great actually - 28 TD’s and 1,800 yards,” Parrish said. “I ain’t done yet, though.”

With word getting out about Parrish’s talents, schools like Florida, Bama, and LSU have begun to take interest and any one of them could be close to pulling the trigger now that Miami has thrown their hat in the ring.

While he has no current visits set up, Parrish is in no rush to end the process and will take his time with everything.

“I’m going to commit sometime next year, my senior year,” Parrish said.

What does a school need to show that will set them apart from the rest for Parrish?

“The one that’s showing the most love to me, that’s where I’ll be attending.”

Bowman, Chaney & Parrish.. Any clue who is ranked where on the big board? Is Bowman even still interested? Seems like I haven't heard anything about him in forever.

Would love to see him and Chaney Jr. share a backfield!!! As a belen alum, sh*t would be super dope!

I’m as excited about 2020 as the next guy, but we have much bigger fish to fry in 2019. Would prefer to see a lot more focus there right now.

Always problems with kids at Columbus for us outside of Trajan bandy and Deon bush(even that was a battle until the all American game announcement)

Parrish was 4th in yards from scrimmage for Ole Miss and is pretty dynamic. Brown runs hard and Franklin flashed. Chaney is brittle. Why shouldn't we add talent to that room?
He’s def better to an Brown… personally I don’t think he’s gonna be a difference maker at all. I think Thad can though if he slims down to about 230 and maybe add a little more quickness to his game.

Because if we were to add another back via portal there’s like 6 back that would be better than him right now and he’s not even in the portal.
