Miami moves up one spot in both major polls

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The Miami Hurricanes moved up one spot in each major poll Sunday, checking in at No. 21 in the Associated Press Top 25 and No. 20 in the Amway Coaches Poll.

The Hurricanes (1-1), who topped Savannah State, 77-0, at Hard Rock Stadium on Sat., Sept 8, were ranked No. 22 by the AP and No. 21 in the coaches' poll last week.

Sophomore defensive lineman Jon Garvin, who delivered an eight-tackle performance, and freshman tight end Brevin Jordan, who totaled his first career catch and touchdown on his way to a 7 catch, 52 receiving yard, and 2 touchdown day, were among Miami's top performers against the Tigers.

Miami's position of No. 21 in the AP Top 25 marked the 20th straight appearance in the poll, extending the sixth-longest streak in program history. Miami's 20th consecutive position in the AP poll represent the 10th-longest active streak in the country.

The Miami Hurricanes continue their schedule on Saturday, Sept. 15 with a trip to Toledo, Ohio for a matchup against the Toledo Rockets (1-0). Miami defeated the Rockets 52-30 at Hard Rock last season. Kickoff for the matchup, set for broadcast on ESPN2, 560 WQAM and 990 AM ESPN Deportes, is set for 12 p.m. ET.

We were never going to drop too far because the national media loyal to the SEC will continue to need to pump up that LSU win over us.

That said, I think we're now accurately ranked.

Yeah figured we wouldn’t move up much with ranked teams mostly playing cupcakes such as our game. It was great to see Jordan get so many catches and of course the TD’s. As soon as he fully gets his legs under him he’s going to be a monster matchup for opposing defenses. Also great to see Mallory snag a TD too. Thunder and Lightning are going to be a great duel for the Canes that’s for sure. All in all it was a great performance scoring 11 TD’s in a game we should’ve dominated. Let’s hope the team morale is better after the win, and that they’re gearing up for the trip to Toledo on Saturday.

It’s pretty much where we should’ve been all along.

We got to stop scheduling these types of teams. Our floor should be a group of 5 team, like Toledo. I just dont think that type of competition helps us. I knw everyone schedules these teams but we dnt have to.

I don't mind scheduling a Bethune or a FAMU, but Savannah State is f'n embarrassing. Savannah State is the 330am last call hookup of college football. You don't want to be caught taking that one home.

Lol great comparison. The truth is beating a team like barely tells you anything about your team. **** honestly speaking Carol City Senior High might give Savannah State a rum for their money.

Well that depends on many factors now if you tell me Miami wins out and beats a undefeated Clemson they will make the playoffs.
Right but if Miami finishes 11-1 they’ll play Clemson and Miami could be top 5 with some help.

Make the old chain the TD CHAIN...SWAG CONTINUES. Since everyone copying. **** wit dat bag lmfao

Only way we have any shot of getting back to the top 5 is if VT is undefeated when we play them. And that would still include beating Clemson. Our schedule is garbage the rest of the way.
