Help is on the way: Anthony Mack transfers to the U

In case you guys missed it, Miami fans can finally breathe as Anthony Mack has decided to start the next chapter of his career in Coral Gables and transfer to the University of Miami. The 6’6” Mack is making his way from Wyoming, where he took a medical redshirt last season due to concussion issues and is hoping that he can be eligible right away along with still having four years of eligibility left, pending a UM petition. Mack’s decision came while on his visit to campus this past weekend and with Chris Lykes, DJ Vasiljevic, and now-eligible Miles Wilson the only backcourt players in the fold, Miami gets some much needed depth. Mack actually has a little bit of familiarity with the UM roster as he actually played at the same high school as forward Deng Gak at Blair Academy in Blairstown, NJ.

IMPACT

The fact that Mack is a wing player is already a huge plus, as they’re looking to fill the void of Bruce Brown and Lonnie Walker. I’ve been looking through a bunch of his high school tapes and he has a nice jumpshot with a very consistent and disciplined release (another shooter wouldn’t hurt). He also plays very well off the ball and is skilled at using the give-and-go. Just imagine Vasiljevic but with a little more reluctance to drive to the basket. If his concussion issues are in the past (being hopeful), he can definitely give you 8-10 points/game off the bench.
