Miami landed a commitment from 2020 Christopher Columbus 3-star DE Elijah Roberts after he attended Miami's fourth OL vs DL challenge of the summer.

“I was talking to all the coaches and I realized that they all care about me as a person and as a football player,” Roberts said. “It’s a family atmosphere at Miami and my family and I feel like Miami is the best choice for us.”

The 6’3" 238 pound DE worked out for coach Jess Simpson over the weekend, and Roberts says that the main reason he committed was because of his relationship with the UM defensive line coach.

“I love coach Simpson,” Roberts said. “Knowing that he will be coaching me in college for 3-4 years, that’s what put Miami over the top. Coach Simpson is a great man and a great coach.”

Another key factor in Roberts' decision to give a verbal pledge to the Hurricanes was his relationship with 2019 Miami DT commit Denzel Daxon and 2020 Miami DE commit Samuel Anaele.

“Both of them are really good friends of mine,” Roberts said. “That was another factor in my decision because I knew I would be playing college football with my boys.”

Roberts says that he doesn’t know which other camps he will attend this summer, but he mentioned that he will be at Miami’s Paradise Camp in July.
