2020 4-star commit Britt speaks on Canes, visits upcoming to UF and FSU

2020 Champagnat-Catholic 4-star WR Marc Britt is considered one of the top players in the country in his class and was recently ranked in the newest 247Sports Top247 released this week, checking in at #124 overall nationally. As one of the top talents in the Sunshine State, Britt has been a Miami commit since December, pulling the trigger after his sophomore season on the field. He talked about what made that moment special.

“When I committed to Miami, I felt great. It was one of my best moments,” Britt said. “The coaches were very happy when they seen that I committed.”

For Britt, it was WR coach Ron Dugans’ style of coaching that had a big impact on his decision to pledge to the Hurricanes.

“The way the wide receivers work and play is my type of style,” Britt said.

And Dugans has been a part of a coaching staff that was organized by head coach Mark Richt and has helped lead Miami to real results on the field. Huge strides have been made by the Canes lately: winning 10 games for the first time in 14 seasons and capturing their first-ever ACC Coastal title. So, what is it about coach Richt that has led to success early in his Miami tenure?

“The stuff I like about him is he a cool coach under pressure,” Britt said of Mark Richt. “He never gets worried when they was down, he always keeps the team up when down.”

It’s still extremely early, but Britt is part of a 2020 class at Miami that currently owns the #1 spot in the nation according to 247Sports team rankings. Britt shared some thoughts on the class as a whole, as well as a teammate he hopes the Canes will add to Category20.

“Yeah we have to keep straight dogs,” Britt said. “I would like for them to get Quai Lewis from Champagnat, he wears #4.”

The early class of 2020 commitments have built a close bond, but that doesn’t mean competition within Category20 stops. When I talked to Vanguard WR Leonard Manuel earlier in the week, he told me he was the best athlete in the class, but I’d have to ask the other guys about who was the best receiver. So, just who is the best receiver between Britt and his fellow WR commits Manuel and Jermaine Burton?

“(Laughs) I let my actions speak louder than my words,” said Britt.

Asked if his own level of commitment was still solid, Britt didn’t hesitate: “Yes, I’m 100%,” he said.

Even so, the 6’2” 185 pounder still plans to see some rival schools: Britt will join Manuel to check out the Gators in Gainesville this weekend and will be in Tallahassee to visit FSU next weekend.

“I’ll be at Florida this week and FSU in 2 weeks,” said Britt.

Still growing into his body, Britt put some electric plays on tape in his sophomore season, but is looking for even more improvement when he steps onto the field in his third year of high school.

“I think I did good for my sophomore year,” Britt said. “I could do better, but I’m just going to work more. My goal for junior season is to play better than the year before.”

For his upcoming junior year though, the Miami commit plans on experimenting more at a different position part-time. While Miami is still recruiting him as a receiver, Britt also has a passion for playing defense as well.

“I’m going to play a little free safety,” Britt said. “I prefer play wide receiver, but I like defense too because I like to hit.”

And his message to Miami fans?

“It’s always great to be a Cane.”

Nice article Stephan. Dude has game and I like the way he goes up and gets it.

Dugans is cleaning up. That WR room is gonna be stacked for years to come as long as he's here.

The only thing that can de-rail this group or receivers is a couple 7-5 seasons. I don't see it, but we have to keep the pedal down and throttle the Toledo's of the world.
