Zack Moss commits to Miami

2016 combo RB Zack Moss has committed to the University of Miami. I had the opportunity to speak with his former coach Rainer Perez, who had a few words about him.

“I have coached this kid since 9th grade year and to see the work he has put in is gratifying. I knew what his ceiling was, but he was immature as a freshman and really bought in to the program,” said Perez.

“The guy was asking the P.E. coach (Shakey Rodriguez) to get extra lifts in. He was working on his craft nonstop and is the perfect guy for Miami.”

What kind of back is Miami getting in Moss?

“He is multi-faceted. The only back we used and can block out of the backfield too. He is a weapon in passing game and blitz pick up,” said Perez.

Work ethic is where Moss really separates himself.

“This kid wants to be the best at his craft. He does all the work by himself and doesn’t work for others around him.”

Perez is impressed by Miami’s recruiting efforts recently as well.

“They are going into 2017 and 2018 hard. The fact they are doing it that and getting ahead of everyone else shows they are on the ball.”

interestingly, no comments about his talent as a runner.

Sounds like a good fullback that can be a feature guy on 3rd and short. Nothing wrong with that.

Offers from Miami and Appalacian State.

April Fools?

Can he bulk up and play DT of NT? I see we have none committed for 2016.

No but at 5'10" 205lbs currently I am thinking he can bulk up to 230lbs with a red-shirt year. But this kid definitely needs to red-shirt.

ALL the people will be complaining had this kid reached a 4th star and commited to Florida.. ppl would yell "how come he left miami? Wheres that fence?" , its called INVESTING in kids, Ed Reed was a 2star player, this kid's progress will be steady, im confident

i like Zack's tape and his skill set but i'm just not sure about his comp.

Fils-Aime is the best back in Florida, really want him.

Here is a Mater Academy Charter HS 2014 Schedule They play in 7A classification

Miami Northwestern 42-20 Loss
Keys Gate (Homestead, FL) 34-21 win
Hialeah-Miami Lakes (Hialeah, FL) 14-6 win
@ Venice (Venice, FL) 14-7 Loss
@ Goleman (Miami, FL) 28-0 win
Westland Hialeah (Hialeah, FL) 43-0 win
@ Mourning (North Miami, FL) 51-0 win

American (Hialeah, FL) 10-6 loss
@ Somerset Academy (Pembroke Pines, FL) 35-20 win

So 2016 RB Zack Moss plays some really good competition (I was surprised myself) at Mater Academy Charter.

Zack Moss reminds me of Mike James. The work ethic mentions were aplenty with him in HS too, and so were the fullback mentions as far as what he would be collegiately.

I'm willing to be patient here and let the kid develop. If he bulks up and becomes a good FB that can catch the ball a little here & there, great. If he develops a little more feel as a runner and becomes a solid HB ala James, that will be awesome too.

Lol. Yeah I use to use it a lot too but its starting to get old now. We are approaching the 20 year mark in regards to when Ed Reed was recruited out of HS. (1997) Time to let that go.
