We are less than 10 hours away from Miami’s top 20 matchup against the Florida State Seminoles. Before the folks at the ACC Huddle and College GameDay provide their picks, let’s see what other analysts across the college football landscape are saying about Saturday’s game at Doak Campbell Stadium.
CBS Sports
The CBS Sports crew is leaning toward Miami in tonight’s showdown with Florida State. All of the analysts picked the Hurricanes to win the game. However, two of the experts still expect the Seminoles to cover the spread.
Jimbo Fisher
Former FSU coach Jimbo Fisher offered his own prediction through SI. He thinks this rivalry comes down to one kick:
“Florida State’s gonna have to stop the run … it’ll be a late field goal. The ’Noles are going to win it on a late field goal.”
“Florida State has to commit to the run. You aren’t going to gas Miami with big running plays frequently — just not going to happen,” he said.
College football analyst Josh Pate previewed the matchup on his Tuesday night show. He said Miami has an edge in the trenches and noted Florida State needs to bounce back after losing to Virginia. Even with the Seminoles’ strong offense, Pate’s final pick was Miami.
“Miami vs. Florida State, Saturday night, 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC. This is an amazing matchup, and I think it’s being somewhat overlooked,” Pate said. He added, “So I’ll take Miami to win and cover, though I have no confidence in that; it’s a coin flip.”
Bleacher Report
Bleacher Report is rocking with the Seminoles to cover against the Hurricanes:
Yes, FSU lost to Virginia. We told you this could happen, and it did. That doesn't necessarily mean the Seminoles are a bad team, and this point spread—which is probably smaller than many thought it would be—implies that. Miami will play its first official road game this season, which is precisely where Florida State stumbled last week. While the Hurricanes feel like a more talented team in many areas, playing on the road is a much different beast. And, if we're being honest, Miami didn't dazzle the last time out against Florida. Quarterback Carson Beck looked a bit out of sorts, and the Hurricanes were a bit lackluster. With that in mind, don't be shocked when Florida State covers and potentially wins outright.
The Pick: Florida State (+4.5)
