Visions of a Featured Jeff Thomas

Visions of a Featured Jeff Thomas

LuCane
One subtle thing I've liked about this year's fall practice is the relative silence around Jeff Thomas. For multiple off and on-field reasons. There have been a lot of "you'll see it when you see it" quotes in the media about motions and shifts (from other players). Not much about specific action. A couple little glimpses of jet sweeps in Spring ball.

You watch guys like Tyreek Hill (this preseason, Mecole Hardman), Emmanuel Sanders (who I compare Mark Pope to, btw), and a bunch of other guys in these spread sets in the NFL. But, our guy whose skillset might be as good as some of the guys we watch in NFL football? Nothing. No big news. No big talk or hype. The point isn't to just call these plays without rhythm and timing (as we forced at end of last season).

On Saturday, Thomas should finally be unveiled as the weapon he is capable of being. And, hopefully make a name for himself on primetime television.

And, if they want to man up to get after our young QB and Tackles, heads up:

I expect to see several designed runs for Jarren set up by JT4 action. You can run him across a formation, fake to him or not, and get a serious numbers advantage at the point of attack with the QB. I expect this 2-3 times on Saturday. You know all eyes will be on 4 when he actions across a formation. And I don’t think they’ll gameplan much for designed runs with Jarren. He should have 6+ carries (obviously not counting any sacks). 2-3 on designed runs and 3-4 on scrambles.

You know Im here for it..

Shouldnt have taken my boy year 3 to be a household name but the stage is set.. ONLY college game in the world @7pm, a few preseason games but this should be JT4 coming out party... No diss to richt but his 30 year playbook couldnt feature the kid, had him feeling like rodney dangerfield.

How ESPN come out with a most exciting player list in college and his name nowhere to be found amongst Rondale Moore, Entienne, Juedy, etc. He has that kind of talent. Im looking for that boy to bring the juice, Enos said 10 touches plus and been coy ever since.. You know what it is, LETS EAT

Ok, I’ll start with this..it may upset some ppl..but Jeff Thomas is not, I repeat not tyreek hill..he is not Nelson from phillie..or Miller from the bears..he is not a Paris Campbell type or toney from UF and I hope we don’t use him that way..the guy on the roster who I think is most like like those guys..or put it this way, would thrive in that role the most is actually a DJ Dallas or mark pope..I hope we use Jeff like we did Stacy his jr year. Move him around and find matchups to utilize his great route running abilities and potential..he can’t be covered on the outside..he should get 7 targets a game at minimum..if we use this sweep action..horizontally,out of the WRs I’d look for Pope or Harley to be those guys..keep them safeties rolled towards Jeff..abd create matchups down field..overall I think the message is get 4 the damn ball..to that I say DILLY DILLY

One of the few plays we should keep from Richts playbook, in fact name it after him in honour. We got soo many Big plays and TDs out of this play over the years, its not even funny. That play is like 4 tds or something out of the 5 times we ran it or something stupid like that.

I’d say keep Jeff outside..keep the coverage honest..then use harly or pope or DJ as those sweep action guys..let Jeff keep pressure on that coverage ALL GAME...I don’t want to see him used heavily in the sweep action..I wanna see that mofo 1v1 vs 31 or whoever the starting safety is as many times possible..the same way coley abused those FSU safeties

I’m just trying to figure out how you stop an offense with Thomas, Osborn, Mallory, Jordan, & Dallas out there all at once. Dan Enos stepped into a gold mine of skill talent.

To your point, and I've argued this since his Frosh year, I think he's more of a WR than a guy like Hill was coming out of college. I think he actually belongs on the outside for a good amount of plays. At "Flanker." Doesn't seem like we're going to use him that way, though. All that said, he doesn't have to be Tyreek Hill to be used on jet sweeps and simply get the ball in his hands. And, even if you don't get the ball in his hands out of these plays, teams will respect the action.

We may not have time for the deep ball. Have to get the ball in JTs hands quickly any way you can. Love the sweeps. Also want to see him and Osborn in twins, with Osborn taking out Henderson freeing up Thomas on the quick slant or bubble.

You stop it by not having a dependable oline and a Green QB..but Diaz/Enos gonna have them boys ready to roll..this coming down to ST/field position..I expect the usually opening night big game lack of execution and such, especially early on

I wanna see JT4 going in motion behind center and Jarren having a shovel option to Brevin
