The ******* thing wasn't even televised. WTF are they holding back for?

Golden out-thinking himself still AGAIN.

Kaaya said last week in an interview they wouldn't be showing much so no surprise there. Had to be a downer for the O to find out just before the scrimmage that Yearby was out.:frown-new: Really smart move on his part. Kehoe really has his work cut out for him but the D is showing promise.

We heard a lot of the same things last year. Not a knock on Pete or anyone but at this point show me on game day. It's easy to be aggressive on defense in March against an offense that is throwing nothing at you. History tells us golden and Dorito fold like a cheap suit when it really matters (Saturday's in the fall). Until I see otherwise I will choose to not buy into this new defensive scheme or #renewed team bull****.

Exactly. Again, in year 4 of this regime, we were 3-7 against teams in the power 5.

Spring game stream of consciousness:

-I'm worried about the offensive line

-We're fairly thin at RB; we really missed Joe; Choc is not ready for consistent contribution in a traditional RB role, though he looked smooth in the passing game; Gus NEEDS a back like Joe to compliment him--they could be a decent tandem if both are healthy

-I'm worried about the offensive line

-David Njoku showed flashes--he could be a nice weapon for us in the passing game; he looks tough enough to hang, which I was concerned about; a QB like Kaaya could turn Njoku into a mismatch in the middle of the field (seam) and in the endzone--he is physically imposing on smaller defenders and he's can jump through the roof; I like the role that Chris Herdon is in and I think he can do more; I like the different roles that our TEs are in, generally--we're creating a lot of flexibility with those dudes; we'll be able to stretch the whole field in 2-3 TE sets.

-We have nice depth on the DL; a healthy Wyche/Huertalou combo would be quite the asset; I would add Courtel to that combo, but I see his value coming from his versatility--he seems undersized for both positions, but he finds a way to succeed in both DT roles with his quickness and toughness; Chad is as good as advertised; I'm starting to see the value of having length up front--our short pass coverage gets quite the boost with all the batted balls.

-I'm worried about the offensive line

-Kirby is going to be a solid player in his new role; Grace is holding his weight well, and he is an eraser--he corrects breakdowns with his speed; Artie does the same--he's a great pursuit guy, we will never be gashed for massive gain/TD plays with him on the field

-Corn Elder is a baller and he needs to stay healthy; Jaquan is going to be great, but he needs time; Dion Bush looks like a Senior who has a ton of experience

-Seeing #8 and #17 lined up as edge players from an endzone view was pretty cool--it's how a "Miami 34" should look; Tyriq needs to stay healthy--his size and length are going to help him in his new role; if we're going to play this 34 hybrid scheme, then I don't see how we can't develop Von Miller type players every so often--THIS IS MIAMI

-I'm worried about the offensive line

-The offense looked suffocated to start; they turned it around a little bit by taking advantage of the defense's over-aggressiveness (yes, I said it)--the O hit the D for some big gains on a few blitzes and it got them moving; Kaaya still looked a bit out of sorts--he looked uncomfortable all day with the consistent pressure

-Kaaya's footwork (I'm no QB expert) on some of the under center PA passes looked improved; he was able to find some space to set his feet, but he missed on nearly all of those throws including an ugly throw on a comeback to Scott

-Braxon Berrios is a nice energy type guy; they could keep him in their pocket until the offense needs a little spark--sort of like a 6th man in basketball

-Malik Rosier is a nice player--he outplayed Kaaya in the first half; Coach Coley didn't to much to specifically help him succeed, but he was able to make some stuff happen; he under-threw a deep ball to Herb but I was impressed that he still got it to him--the wind was pretty stiff; Rosier is smart athlete with a big arm

-We were "vanilla" on offense, but that still doesn't mean that we can't protect the quarterback; I'm worried about the offensive line.

BOTTOM LINE: we looked much better than last spring. We can all admit that we left last spring really, really ******* nervous about the following year. We have the team to win some games, but who knows what will happen? A winning coach can win with this team. Something big is going to happen this year. Either we win big and everyone is happy, or we crumble once again and we see big changes all around the program. I think this is a black or white season--there won't be any gray area.

Fantastic write up. Thank you.

Thanks for the write up.

Lulz @ for "show for the fans" and "keeping it vanilla". Who the **** was watching and taking notes? The cloak and dagger stuff is amusing, if not delusional.

Calling BS on Rozier. The only game reps he will see is Bethune or the other cupcake we play. 2 series in the 4th quarter. He won't see game time against an opponent with a winning record or in a meaningful game because Al doesn't play backups. SteMo was on one leg for a half of a season and he didn't play Williams. The only way Rozier gets game time against a team with a pulse is if Brad gets carted off.

Wyche, Moten and e DL. Well, great. A paradigm shift has been needed on defense for 3 years now. Whatever it is that they do, doesn't work, despite Al's spin that we have the fifteenth defense in the land, and D'No telling 2 fans that we, in fact, really are aggressive. Apparently D'No has no memory of the 91 Canes team he played against, that had more sacks in that one game against Joepa's Nits, than his aggressive D had all of last season.

On LBs, sounds like they're coming along. I just hope that Golden isn't lying awake all night thinking of ways he can put 25 lbs on Grace before the season starts.

TEs- I'm hopeful that, after taking 4 years to finally find Warlord over the middle, the trend continues with the guys you mentioned. And Golden played TE in college.... Smdh.

I like some of the talent we have on the backline, I don't like that the ball literally hits them in the head before they locate it. I don't think the guy coaching the secondary is effective at what he does.

I'm worried about Brad. He started looking like Wild Thang before he got his glasses when it all started going south. So they're doubling down on him.... (you can't make this stuff up). I'll be rooting for that young man to have a supporting cast- yes it would help if Stacey came back from the Twilight Zone and Scott hit someone wearing football pads. A defense that stops people and Special Teams that puts us in good field position, scores, points, or puts the bad guys in a hole, would help. until then it's all talk. Remember what JJ said, "potential" just means you haven't done anything yet.

Pete got what he wanted, access to the press box! As for the content...smh!!! We bought that crap for four years. nice write up.

Sounbds exqactly like my write up would be..

Worried about this ol....Mostly Tackle...If Sunny has to log consistent mins we in BIG TROUBLE...Love Jahair Jones having some confidence and getting aggressive with guys after getting is face beat a few times.....He look "ok" in the game...

Isn't Gadbois still out? I will not worry if he's back and healthy all season. I will worry if his injury causes issues. But I still believe Jones, St Louis and Milo pass Odogwu up by first game, just like McDermott and Darling did last year. Sucks to rely on newbies. But if we must, I think we patch together a decent OL.

I'm not holding my breath on Sunny either. He couldn't even fulfill simple field goal responsibilities last year. If we get Gadbois back with KC, then I think our first group will be OK; we'll just be paper thin. We won't be able to sustain an injury at Tackle for the first half of the season--the young Tackles coming in are going to need some time to get ready.

It seems that Jahair has had a rough time this spring, but I'm going to reserve judgment on him. He's shown some good fight like you said. I want to see if he gets decleated again after going though a full weight training period. I think you're right: at the very least he can be a guy that can play in an emergency situation until we get one of our young guys ready/reshuffle.

I like Nick Linder a lot at Center. He's a baller; a football guy. Isadora has plenty of experience. I'm afraid we're going to fill that other guard spot with a random joe. I'm so worried about all this because of our starting quarterback. We need to protect Kaaya at all times. He's not going to be able to create with his legs and makeup for poor protection. We need him upright and in the pocket (unless the play is designed to have him elsewhere).

Now that all of Stoutland's guys are gone, I'm concerned about the o-line.

I have said the same thing an Kehoe gets too many project type guys and not enough guys that can help the program from a back up position, He clearly has not recruited on the level that Coach Stoutland did and we must have him step up his game.

Not sure what you guys are talking about with Kehoe. McDermott, Darling, St Louis and Milo are all studs. J Jones could turn out to be a steal, and little Linder was as major surprise. I have serious doubts on Loftus and mild questions on Mahoney. But overall the last two classes have been quality.
