**There were rumors posted on the board that Anthony Moten was considering flipping from Miami to FSU, but that does not seem to be the case. A person close to the situation told me Miami was “close to losing him” to either UF or FSU when the Al Golden-Penn State talk was going on and that was an issue for Moten. When it became apparent that Golden was staying at Miami, those worries died down for the Aquinas DT. Miami is not concerned at the moment and feels like he is solid.

**I’ve seen Olajuwon Tucker’s name being posted on the board due to the fact that he has a visit set up for the 24th, but as of right now he would not be able to commit to Miami. The situation could change in the coming weeks, but don’t be disappointed if he doesn’t flip to the Canes after his visit.

**One prospect to watch that is a legitimate target is Tavon Ross out of Georgia. Ross has been a Mizzou commit since late August, but has recently blown up with both Miami and Georgia offering in the last week. I exchanged messages with Ross this morning and he told me that he is setting up a visit to Miami for the 24th. Ross also said he is being recruited as a running back or defensive back. I should be interviewing him tonight.

**Not to pour salt in the wound, but I looked more into the Brandon Powell situation out of curiosity and I think I have a clearer picture of what happened now. I mentioned the other day that Miami coaches did not tell him to wait to enroll, which is true. Miami wanted him in now and there is no doubt about that, but there was one class on his transcript that was causing an issue so Miami coaches were telling Powell to be patient so things could get worked out. The same thing happened with Joseph Yearby where the higher ups had to sign off on a class of his and he was not officially in until yesterday. So basically, my understanding is that Powell would have gotten in the way Yearby did, but in order to secure his spot at enrolling somewhere this semester, he just chose UF since he was comfortable with them and knew there would be no delay with him enrolling. My personal opinion is that there was some sort of misunderstanding from Powell’s side, but I don’t want to speculate.

**No surprise here, but Derrick Griffin tweeted out that he would need to go the JUCO route and wouldn’t be in Miami this month as he had been expecting. Griffin later deleted the tweet, but Miami has not been counting on him to be a part of this class for some time.

**Angela Means-Kaaya told me last night that her son (Brad Kaaya) would be in Miami this weekend for his official visit. Golden and Carroll are expected to go in-home with him tonight. The UCLA and Boise State interest rumors have been greatly exaggerated. These next few days should get rid of any concern that Canes fans have about his commitment.

**Kaaya told me that his teammate Brayden Lenius would not be able to make it down this weekend, as previously reported. Lenius is still expected to visit and Miami is in good shape.

**As I posted here (http://www.canesinsight.com/threads/73069-Valentine), Miami is expected to put the full court press on Travonte Valentine beginning today. It will be a tough pull against LSU, but family is on Miami’s side here.

Still confused - so if the Powell and Yearby situations are similar, Powell could have gotten into class mere days after he originally scheduled (like Yearby)... So rather than wait a couple days, he changed schools entirely? Or was he worried that UM wouldn't sign off on his paperwork and he knew UF would?

There's a train coming. Get on or Get LEFT. AG tryna close strong. I like it.

I don't think Powell wanted to have any uncertainty. The class in question was cleared by UF so he knew he could get in there no problem.

Gotcha. What a weird way to handle that, especially as an EE...

He prob could have waited a week and then still enrolled at UF if his class wasn't cleared.

Per @MBVarsityPreps, Miami visited Homestead WR Gilbert Johnson (UGA commit) at school today. Have heard there is mutual interest #Canes

From what Pete said, I would venture to say this is what happened. Kid was told to wait because of the admin. issue. He freaked out and took the sure thing, to make sure he was in school, and not have to wait till fall or later. It sucks, but I guess he felt he didn't have no other alternative and didn't "trust the process".

Oh yeah, Good $#1T, Pete! Thanks
