It's something how the two losses mentioned in OP's post - 2023 Georgia Tech and 2024 Syracuse - can be traced back to extremely poor decision making on behalf of the Head Coach.

The Tech game is self-explanatory, but UM running the ball down Cuse's throat in the 4th Quarter only to settle for a Field Goal when a TD would have tied the game.

And this is with a playoff spot on the line when our defense had zero answer whatsoever for Cuse's offense.

Guidry's defense was abysmal, but Cristobal's decision-making was inexcusable.

Hetherman better be the real deal and we desperately need both the new secondary portal players to perform and the touted signees from the 2024 class to take the next step. Any lack of progress and we're looking at a death spiral under Cristobal.

****** news. Something has felt off with recruiting the last couple of weeks, so honestly, I’m not surprised. We’ve only won 10 games twice (2024 and 2017) in the last 20 years. These kids don’t know—or give a f***—about Sean Taylor, Ed Reed, Portis, McGahee, Dorsey, Vilma, etc. They were all born after 2003.

I’m still holding out hope for Mario and the program in Year 4, but this is make or break. Ten wins, a conference title game appearance, and a bowl game win is my floor. If not, Mario has plateaued as a coach here, and it’s time to move on.

Lastly, thank God for Cam Ward. That is all.

Count you as a friend. If you ever needed me I’d be there, hand to god. This is a glazed donut take. Half of the below is true. I’m 50:50 on if we recruit better than them. They weren’t ready for 1/1(Cam). Fact is, if we were run like SC our class would be top 5. We’re run like a banana republic and we MAY eek into top ten. Unfortunately that’s a huge gulf.

Still my guy!!!!
We recruit better than UF and looked to be in a different universe, talent-wise, on the field with them.

Well we know what the first plane should say next year..” Smith take your blow and get away from my team”….

Everyone but super slurpers knew we didn't have enough at DT and CB last spring.... that is on Mario... no blaming Guidry for everything. Guidry is another assistant scapegoat for a coach failing to hire right.
Point taken

it's disappointment, but the OP made it seem a little worse than i picture it ... we got a solid class and #1 player ... we missed on some guys we wanted badly ... gotta go find some guys that improve and have good senior season and gotta keep pushing forward in the wins column ... mike tomlin said it best, "you can't run from coaching, you have to run to coaching" ... mc has to coach/hire good coaches to get to the next level
Dude, the way we’re getting out spent for our highest priority recruits makes me wonder if we are even able to hold onto the guys we have.
It’s June. We can either end up with a top 10 class or fall out of the top 15 the way things are going. The kids we have committed may start to wonder why they committed if we don’t start landing kids that they thought they would be playing with.

Just came off of 10 win season with a record setting offense. But dudes Keep moving the goalposts because people are trying to hide the fact that we can’t pay what these other schools are paying.

When we hired CMR it was because we needed to win 10 games. He won 10 games and still couldn’t land the best recruits. Now Mario won 10 games spanked uf and he still can’t land the recruits that he’s after especially the elite local ones. Which is what he was specifically brought in to not lose and he personally said he wanted to put a stop to.

Too many in here are denial or is being fed a bunch of horse manure. It’s obvious we do not have the money to compete with the top schools at this point.
Even if we win 10 games, beat Clemson and go to the playoffs; these kids are going to go to the other schools because they’re paying more.
Everybody says that these kids just wanna see wins. Yeah they want to see wins in their bank account.

What about USC and unfortunately our rivals UF have sucked and have no issue landing guys. Ou and A&M have been bad and have no problem landing guys either.

Always a new excuse for miami.
Bro are you going to say that USC isn't spending more on this HS class than any other program in the country? Are you going to say A&M hasn't CLEARLY shown in the past handful of years they are willing to completely outspend everyone else?

It's just funny to me how people can say it's all about money basically, but then not maintain that when we lose battles.

It seems a lot of the complaining can just be solved by making a list of who you generally think will have the largest NIL budget PURELY for this 26 HS class. Not who has a larger budget as a whole. Who has the most money to spend on JUST this HS class. Like Where do we rank in comparison to USC? Texas? A&M? LSU? UGA? Etc.

I mean it'd just be funny to me to say it's "always a new excuse" when you're losing recruiting battles against teams that spend more lol. If I think we are going to spend say the 7th most money out of HS this year, I'd expect a HS class ranked 5th-10th (Class size impacts that). And if we are 7th and outspend on one top guys, it likely means we get beat on two others. Cantwell is the #1 player in the country. We land him over UGA, and it means we honestly SHOULD get beat out for the next like 2-3 ranked guys on our board we're battling them with...

We have local kids earning first team All American here in Kam and X, OJ first FR AA, Xavier Lucas comes home as a high end NFL prospect, our RBs are both from here and set to BALL….why the turn on us now from local prospects?

Plus we have four studs in 27 committed from
here.

I don’t get it.

i can't speak to money ... i know we had plenty of money when we revamped our secondary and grabbed a top tier qb ...

i disagree about the playoff argument, we make the playoffs it's further proof of concept ... we have to coach our way to the next tier, not buy our way there
