Miami will take as many impact edges as they can get.

- Offensive line is down nationally and Miami’s five stars from last year are spooking some big names. Expect us to lean on evaluations. Names to know here are Top 100 prospect Isendre Ahfua (Seattle, WA), Deryc Plazz (Jacksonville, FL) , Joseph Ioanata (Clearwater, FL), Kevin Heywood (Philadelphia, PA) and Eddie Tuerk (Chicago, IL).

- Miami would love to pair Caleb Odom (Atlanta, GA) with Elijah Lofton (Las Vegas, NV) at tight end and have momentum with both. Lofton in particular is a pure football player who can help at multiple spots. They just want to get him in the fold and that might happen sooner than later.

- Position versatility is something to watch with our recent transfers. Both Tyler Harrell (Alabama/Louisville transfer) and Shemar Kirk (JUCO) are guys who can play multiple spots at WR. We want to be a faster team and Harrell became a priority once we completed our process and cleared him health wise. Jadais Richard (Vandy transfer) is someone who can help at CB, nickel and S. We need big corners who can compete with FSU’s big receivers and Richard made clear he relishes that challenge.

- One transfer people are very excited about- Nebraska RB Ajay Allen. I was told he might be a “jersey guy”- as in, Canes fans might be wearing his jersey one day.

- As reported previously, Tulane’s threats regarding tampering caused Miami to cool off DB Andre Sam (Tulane transfer), who was likely to commit to Miami. The risk outweighed the reward. Ohio State’s unexpected involvement changed things with DT Tywone Malone (Ole Miss transfer). The issue with DT Kyvie Rose (Louisiana Tech transfer) was the country vs. city lifestyle.

- Miami is very much in the game for WR Jerrae Hawkins (IMG via West Virginia). They want speed.

- Miami will continue to monitor the Portal but I don’t think anything is imminent. Despite momentum earlier this week with Miami, I think Arkansas is the favorite for JUCO OL Amaury Wiggins.

- Miami loves what it has committed at safety with Isaiah Thomas (Clearwater via Canada) and Dylan Day (Baton Rouge). Day can play multiple spots and is bigger and faster than people think.

- Don’t sleep on Miami with RB Chauncey Bowens (Benjamin).

BTW it seems to me Bama is stalking us on the trail. I know it sounds absurd but some of these players like Keyshawn Flowers has mostly big ten and northeast offers, plus us.....then Bama. I expect them to just go after the top 5 at the position since they can, while we have to do some more evaluation. Based on their transfers lately, i dont think their talent recruitment is as sound as its made out to be. Seems they pretty much just load up and absorbed the bad evals in the past. But with the portal its kinda exposing some of it. Just some random musing.

I mean… as explained we don’t have the equity yet. Miami starts converting some of these players into consistent 1st and 2nd day picks and the tide will change. People go to Bama and UGA with proof that waiting your turn will lead to a pay day. At the end of the day it’s about a pay day.

We aren’t a big-time school right now and can’t operate with that kind of equity. Trying to build towards that. The bigger issue is that our young guys are either starting or in line to potentially start for multiple years.
