Miami basketball is here! Tomorrow, the Miami Hurricanes basketball team will welcome a (D2) team four hours away from Coral Gables, the Saint Leo Lions, in an exhibition game at 7:00 p.m. on ESPN+.

There’s no point in selling a bill of goods that Saint Leo can defeat the Hurricanes this Wednesday evening at the Watsco Center. It's unlikely to happen, as Saint Leo simply lacks size, and Miami will exploit their advantage in the post during the game.

A player that can exploit that could be Lynn Kidd, the Virginia Tech transfer.

At 6-foot-11, 235-pound center averaged 13.2 points and 6.5 rebounds in 23.3 minutes per game while shooting a team-best 66.8 percent from the field in the 2023-24 season. His .668 field goal percentage currently ranks first among ACC players and is 11 percent better than the next.

Kidd significantly increased his scoring from 2022-23 (5.0) and became a full-time starter for the Hokies last season, achieving five double-doubles and 24 games with double-digit scoring.
I believe Lynn will dominate the paint tomorrow evening. The Lions played FAU earlier last week, and 7-foot center Matas Vokietaitis could not be stopped on 8 of 10 shooting from the field. Scoring 23 points.

Last season, the Saint Leo Lions gave up an average of 84.4 points per game. Opponents averaged just shy of 37.1 rebounds as well. The Lions do not foul much, so surely we will see them go with a 2-3 zone set versus the Hurricanes on Wednesday. There will be opportunities to attack the gaps and kick out for three, but they lack size, so I would like to get it inside more to Lynn Kidd, and I think he would go to work.

Saint Leo's tallest player is only 6-foot-6, while Lynn Kidd stands at 6-foot-11 and has more experience. Therefore, I’ll choose Kidd as the MVP and X-Factor for tomorrow’s game.
