Above all else, I'm happy to see that this QB competition is actually a competition.

If Perry just rolled onto campus, faced zero obstacles, and was anointed the starter right away, then I don't think it would serve him or the team well. The fact that Evan is making him work for it is a blessing.

If Perry is to be the starter, then I want it to be because he worked his butt off in beating out a kid like Evan, who is also clearly working his tail off.

Yea, we have to hope Perry is working hard and isn't gifted anything, while we can be rest assured that "a guy like Evan" will earn everything he gets and is clearly working hard.

Great self-awareness!

Hey, genius, that's not even close to what my point was. Everyone around the team--including Richt--has said that Evan is working hard, which makes sense because he wants to be the guy. I didn't say Perry wasn't working hard, only that if he wins the job it will be because he has been putting in the work and not anointed for his hype. I honestly don't understand how you could take that statement any other way. Bottom line: we need our players to push one other.

"The biggest difference for me is how I watch film. Before Duke, I really didn't watch film -- I kinda just came out to practice and did what they told me."

Wow, man. Just wow.

OMG.. Leave it to Al F*cking Golden to not only recruit low rated 3 players who shouldn't be at Miami or a P5 school in the first place on a talent level standpoint but then to have NO fight (In games), Don't want to compete (In Practice) or No mentality to want to be great regardless of their limitations but they instead have the mentality of a entitled highly touted 5 star recruit? Then these guy on here want to complain about "depth" after we applaud when a Golden special leaves? F*CK These Golden Special. I bet Rosier ain't the only one of these Golden Special (and during the Folden Era) that barely watch film because most of these dude on gameday look completely lost as if it were their first every time playing football (during Folden's era). Get these dude out of the program they are cancer. I know Richt is trying but he can't get rid of Golden's players fast enough.

Other than the atrocious coaching preparation, this explains why the team would so often roll over if they faced any problem in the game. This team was filled to the brim with quitters and its starting to show.

Evan has worked his butt off to get to where he is. It's good that he has put in so much work that a guy can't just come in and win the job because everyone else sucks. I believe Perry will eventually win the job, but I wouldn't be disappointed one bit if Evan leads us to 10+ wins.

I literally just used him as an example. My entire statement started with an "if." But I'm sure you chose to skip over that part, too. You need to relax, bro, and stop popping a neck vein over something so ridiculous.

I can't believe people are going "wow, he didn't watch? WTF!". That means he didn't watch film against Clemson so thank god he's not a self starter because he's a big reason goldy got flushed down the toilet. I think he deserves a medal for saving the program imo.

Steve Walsh had a ****in noodle. Go re-watch Dorsey throwing ducks off his backfoot. You don't need a strong arm if you're smart, accurate and / or have playmakers all over the ****ing place.

Note: The above was not an endorsement of I Shot The Shirreffs and a move away from my position as campaign manager for #Weldon2017

you can contact me, the assistant campaign manager, if you wish to donate to the campaign.

of course this guy shows up with this chit....perfectly good thread and he tries to derail it

Shirreffs is a great practice player. I'm hoping it translates to game situations because it hasn't yet. Broke is a pristine ball handler too, but he can't play QB for ****.

We've seemingly been okey-doked by practice QBs for way too long. Seems like every QB after Brock Berlin is some fantastic QB in practice but is the antithesis of gamer when games count.

Unless Perry just outright outplays Sherrifs in the scrimmages I bet Sherrifs starts the season and Perry gets a couple series a game. If you think he has enough to play at this level right now, you got to insert him in some capacity because he is the future.

That's why I like some live action in scrimmages. You can't tell too much about a QB who knows no one is going to touch him.

Shirreffs as UM's Cole Stoudt?

Evan Shireffs is definitely making a name for himself as a greentree all american... the scrimmages is what Richt wants to see. I think he knows Evans choked big time in last years scrimmage so how he performs under real pressure is what will decide who starts going into the season.

Nobody is crowning Evan man. Take the comments for what they are. Nobody is on here saying he's throwing for deep touchdowns and lighting the defense up.

Was he today?

No, that would have been Rosier.

If Shirreffs is named the starter, Richt is going to want to get him as much time in as possible to get him ready for FSU. Also, I think most of the Perry playing time is coming from fans, not coaches and players. Perry will have to be a solid #2 , or he might just redshirt.
