ProCanes NFL Recap: Week 14

Paul Austria
Frank Gore is still making moves in the history books while the Chargers’ gamble on kicker Michael Badgley is paying off quite nicely. Here’s the Week 14 recap on your NFL ProCanes.

RB

At this point, age is just a number for Frank Gore, as he continues to perform at a high level and make history. On Sunday’s game against the Patriots, the 35-year old ran for 92 yards and had a catch for 24 yards that catapulted him into fifth place on the all-time list for yards from scrimmage with 18.530, passing LaDanian Tomlinson. Gore may need another season to catch up to Marshall Faulk, who’s fourth on the all-time list with 19,154 yards. Texans RB Lamar Miller was contained by the Colts on Sunday, finishing with only 33 yards on 14 carries with a touchdown to go along with five catches for 19 yards. Duke Johnson could not get anything going for Cleveland on Sunday, recording two carries for -6 yards while Baltimore’s Gus Edward carried the ball 16 times for 67 yards in the Ravens’ 27-24 loss to the Chiefs.

WR

Travis Benjamin caught one pass for 11 yards in the Chargers’ win over the Bengals while Dallas’ Allen Hurns also caught one pass for nine yards in the Cowboys’ OT victory over the Eagles.

TE

Green Bay’s Jimmy Graham had two catches for 13 yards in a 34-20 victory over Atlanta while David Njoku had three catches for 35 yards in their win over Panthers.

DL

The Jaguars were dealt another blow to their playoff chances in a 30-9 loss to Tennessee as Calais Campbell finished with 2 tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss. In the Giants’ 40-9 thrashing of the Redskins, Oliver Vernon was a terror recording five tackles with 1.5 sacks and two QB hits while rookie RJ McIntosh added two tackles. Kansas City’s Allen Bailey had four tackles in a decisive 27-24 OT victory over the Ravens while Anthony Chickillo recorded one tackle in Pittsburgh’s loss to the Raiders.

DB

Chargers’ S Rayshawn Jenkins recorded one tackle in a win over Cincinnati.

K/P

Michael Badgley continued his hot streak since taking over as the starting kicker for the Chargers, going a perfect 4/4 on field goals, including a 59-yarder to end the first half. Falcons’ P Matt Bosher had four punts for 200 yards against the Packers, landing one inside the 20 and Pat O’Donnell played phenomenally for the Bears on Sunday with five punts for 229 yards and pinning four of those punts inside the 20.

In injury news, the Panthers officially placed TE Greg Olsen on injured reserve, who re-injured his surgically-repaired right foot. The Raiders’ Jonathan Feliciano suffered a calf injury early in the game against the Steelers and the team fears it might be season-ending.
