If Lopez ends up here, it’s simply because we whiffed on others. I rather pivot to someone else or hit the portal than go in this direction

Lol except the timeline doesn't add up for this statement to make any sort of sense.

Let’s ignore the fact that UM has been after him hard and even caved to giving him a basketball scholarship to win the recruitment. Let’s make up a narrative about him being a backup plan instead.
Many kids get recruited without a green light to commit. It happens all the time. They are usually backups.

Let’s use logic. You think Lucas will be happy about offering not 1 but 2 roster spots to kids (Calvin and Lopez) who probably can’t make the team? In 2025, do you really believe a Miami kid would pick FSU over Miami with a green light and NIL deal? If so, then I can’t help you.

I'm fine with your overall point. But I'm wondering if you know to whom we could pivot at this point? Also, do you think the guys we got out of the portal are as good options as Lopez?

Hmmm…I remember a certain short WR not too long ago that ended up breaking UM records and ballin’ out who was crapped on by a bunch of people on this board during his Freshman season. Fools on here were saying that Ray Ray was gonna take his job as soon as he stepped on campus.

Meanwhile, in the real world, Restrepo was putting in the work and becoming a menace, while Ray Ray has shown nothing at all, and has been the very definition of a JAG.

Lopez is faster than X, and is not only an excellent athlete, but also ultra competitive. Kid absolutely hates losing. I’ll take those traits any day over a 6’ 5” diva who can only run one route and who hasn’t produced at an elite level yet at his position. Reminds me of Lane and Pope. Not all 5 Stars are created equally.

Keys would be a great get, but at this point, it’s very unrealistic that Mario lands a commitment from him. Russell, on the other hand, can kick rocks.

Lopez is a baller, and would add a lot to our WR room.
