Dope podcast as per usual. One thing I wished you guys touched on was Special teams. I know it might be a touchy thing but we are **** near last in country in special team eff. Not conference, COUNTRY.

I did briefly touch the field position debacle we’ve witnessed. I had only one positive thing (the 2 returner wrinkle to gain an advantage) to say about the special teams and endless questions. I simply don’t understand what seems like continuous lack of cohesion in tackling and decisions. For example, I could have done 20 minutes of the podcast on my frustration when we kicked off from the 50, and didn’t take advantage with a pooch or a squib. Instead, just instructed the kid to kick the ball over the end zone. Why? Gain an edge somewhere.
They are terrified of the kick coverage. Didn’t want to risk another return. That’s got to be it
But from the 50 in a pooch or squib scenario? FSU had a giant fat guy, I think #55, in the middle of their return formation. Kick the ball - pooch or on the ground - directly at that dude’s chest? I get that requires some repetition and preparation in practice for specific scenarios, but isn’t that exactly what they should be doing? I’m sure they know these things. It’s confusing to watch.
The interesting thing is, I've seen quite a few coaches do this. Leaves me scratching my head every single time. It's like they aren't even thinking.

FSU did it in the game, too, IIRC. I don’t get it. In games where you’re trying to catch an edge anywhere, I feel like those are fairly reasonable opportunities to make something happen whether by field position or turnover from chaos.
Fair point. But obviously the coaches didn't think it was worth the risk. Which is alarming. This is a 9-3 team unless our specials improve dramatically.

N'Kosi started so well in the last 2 games (FIU and UNC) before FSU. I don't think he's a guy who will always need to settle in as the game goes along b/c hes' already shown he hasn't needed to before. I think just the FSU game atmosphere, the stage, got to him a bit early, and obviously FSU was getting more pressure on him than either FIU or UNC. He'll be fine. I expect to see that he's grown even more confident going forward after leading that comeback.

D$ believes the heart and soul of the program is reflected in the Muck, so he chooses to live in as close to the environment as possible. I just work here.
Issue now is with the new fair catch rule they would still get the ball at the 25 so it would definitely have to be a squid but I wonder how often we practice that if at all.
If they are, it's because they don't have the right personnel out there. Same deal goes with the PR coverage unit which fielded: DJAx, Knowles, Bethel, Dean, LS, Spicer, MSmith. That's 7 guys that really should have no business on ANY coverage unit, yet, they're out there. I'm sure KO coverage units are similar but with a little more athleticism. We have guys that can run, hit and are physical, yet many of them aren't on these units. Kind of mind boggling.
I bet Lu does a great Macho man Randy Savage impression.
