Everything is becoming crystal clear in this one. Bottom line is this kid was insanely overrated. Miami would have loved to have had him here but only at the right price. Russell thinks he is a lot better than he is. He has good speed and great height but with a slight build and extremely raw as he is a terrible route runner at this point. He has a long way to go to be the WR that we would want him to be. Pete is right. Russell wouldn't have solved any of our immediate needs and was truly an optics take. I don't agree with Pete that this is a bad look. LSU stopped recruiting him. Take that how you will.

Nothing went wrong, Miami did everything possible, but this kid willingly chose not only an inferior football program, but also a basketball program that is cruising on name recognition and hasn't been anything decent in almost a decade. They haven't made the tournament since 2021. They haven't been to a Final Four since 2015 and that was a lucky run because they were mediocre as **** throughout that season until they got hot in March. Think about that, Syracuse has fewer deep runs in March over the last decade than Miami. MIAMI. Young man did what he thought was best for his career, but none of it makes sense. Oh well.

Two points:
We are not going to win every throw down for players in our backyard......not happening....Mario is selective too.

The other is that if a player has a "me" or "look at me" he is not going to square up with Mario.........it does not match up to the U culture... so we will pass.

This bleating of so many posters shows that we should respect the selective nature of how Miami is building for the short term, and long term......

The Orange says a lot,...a bottom feeder in the ACC no less... but he will be in the portal in a year or two........ HIs progress will show how good a player he is, but with our plans, he may want then to be a Cane,.... but it is then left to Mario's call.....methinks Mario will pass........

If anyone thinks this kid is a special athlete, please go look at his basketball highlights.

Mario gotta be better in the hood
Here is the thing, you’re not too far off from fact. There is a real “hood” issue. There are folks within the “hood” who are not only not Mario fans but not fans of the program unless they can be in charge of it. That’s never going to happen at Miami. So since they aren’t “running it” there way of saying FU is to push kids away and trash the program. It’s clear as Waterford glass, just no one is willing to say it.
