Miami squarely in the mix for Rudolph

Miami squarely in the mix for Rudolph

There have been countless rumors surrounding the recruitment of Cardinal Newman wide receiver Travis Rudolph. Some people will tell you that Florida has been the longstanding leader, while others say Florida State has made a push into his top spot, but Rudolph denies any of that talk.

“Really there is no school that’s leading. Schools in the mix are Florida State, Miami, Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Tennessee, Ohio State, and a couple other schools that are just off the top of my head,” said Rudolph.

Rudolph has been using his official visits to check out some out of state choices.

“I just took officials to Tennessee and Ohio State because I had never been there and I’ll probably go see a couple more out of state schools too.”

The Florida Gators have had Rudolph’s attention for a while now as well.

“From day one when I first landed on campus, I just always had a good vibe with them.”

The playmaking receiver was committed to Miami at this time last year before some confusion with the coaching staff as to which position he would play at Miami. Rudolph prefers to play receiver and says those concerns have been cleared up.

“Everything has been addressed with me and the coaching staff and everything is good with them.”

Miami has made a move recently with the Palm Beach product.

“I’ve been getting a real good vibe from them. I’m hearing from all their coaches like every other day. I have bloodlines through Miami and that’s a big reason they’re up there for me. They’re building the program and are one heck of a team.”

One of the “bloodlines” for Rudolph and Miami is his father, who is a big ‘Canes fan.

“He loves the ‘Canes (laughs). I honestly feel like he would prefer for me to go there than any other college, but he does tell me that he’ll support me 100% wherever I decide.”

Rudolph isn’t surprised by Miami’s 5-0 start.

“I always thought they had potential to be the team they are right now and even better so it’s great to see.”

What will his decision ultimately come down to?

“It will come down to the campus atmosphere, my vibe with the coaches, and if I see myself living there for the next 3-4 years. I’ll make the best choice for me on-and-off the field.”

**Rudolph is planning to make his announcement at the Under Armour All-American game in January

This is the kid that publicly blasted our coaches over some stupid nametag with the wrong position, right?

I don't think I would call it "blasting" the coaches, but yes he was upset. It wasn't just the name tag, he was upset that they were recruiting him at corner.

I think we'll be happy with our wr haul this year. A lot of seeds planted.

Want.

This WR class should be ridiculous. Langham, Berrios and then hopefully 2 from Dixon, Lane, Rudolph, Brady.

I mean maybe if Dixon comes it can help but I just dont see it right now. FSU will push for him but Winston is leaving after next year, OSU is right there too

Y'all need to settle down, recruits read this ****. Rudolph is a playmaker and I'd love to have him. Hope Rudolph realizes that UM is doing special things and all these other south florida kids are being a part of it. Would hate to see Devin Hester's cousin go anywhere but UM.

The campus atmosphere always is the knock on miami. The off-campus stadium and a relatively poor fan base gives us a bad look.

Ah, so you're one of those weird muther****ers who get offended over something that probably wasnt true. And FYI, it was quincy Wilson who got mad at his nametag. It said "LB" instead of "safety".

How often does a kid recommit to a team he decommitted from?

I get the vibe from reading all the info out there that Miami is running 4th or 5th behind UF , Bama and Noles

Fact is if he wants back in I will take him just like everybody else so I hope the kid really considers us again.

Word?

“It’s just the little details like when I went to Miami’s junior day and they give you these name tags that identify you and below your name it has your position. They didn’t have ‘athlete’ for me, just strictly cornerback so that right there ****ed me off because they were telling me receiver and then they had cornerback on there. So it’s little details that are red flags for me.”
