Miami OT commit Joel Ervin talks 'feeling like a priority' and recaps official visit
A criminally underrated 2026 OT, Joel Ervin was down in Coral Gables this weekend on his one and only official visit. The 6'7, 330 pound prospect from Fort Myers caught up with myself and @DMoney following his visit and here's what he had to say:
Overall feeling from the visit:
“It was a great visit. I mean, I enjoyed everything about the visit like Coach Cristobal's house, going on a boat and stuff like that — It was just amazing visit. From the day I came to the day I left. It was just amazing all the way through. I just had an amazing time and I didn't wish to be anywhere else.”
“I definitely felt like a priority. It was just a great visit. Like I said, I just couldn't ask for anything else.”
On being alongside fellow Miami commits on the visit:
“Oh man, it was a great time spending time with those guys, because seeing those guys on the internet is surreal, those guys are just guys are playmakers. So it's just amazing coming in to interact and communicate with those guys, you know, us just being future teammates, it’s just amazing. It's all an honor.”
“I had some guys, Canon [Pickett] was my roommate, so I did a lot of recruiting [on the visit].”
On other schools trying to contact him:
“Like Florida and stuff like that, but I keep it respectful and just keep my distance.”
On shutting down his recruitment:
“I feel like my recruitment is shut down. I'm pulling Miami. It's been just welcome with open arms. It's been amazing. I couldn't wish for any better school. Coach Cristobal and coach Mirabal, I mean, their coaching is just out of the window. It blows my mind.”
